Seattle LOVES Country

Country equals ratings in Seattle. It is a wild horse race between the WOLF and KMPS for the Country crown. STAR starts playin country with their format flip and they double their numbers in this last phase. Does it escape notice that three out of the top five stations 25-54 in Seattle in the May phase were playin Big and Rich, Rascal Flatts, Tim and Faith, Martina. All played a pile on WOLF, KMPS and STAR. My bet is WARM, KMTT and even JACK will start looking toward Country music a bit more. Just remember listeners tend to return to the one that brought em to the dance!!!!! WOLF and KMPS will be the big winners as other stations expose country to their audiences. The big question is who will win the Country battle this Spring. WOLF won the first phase, KMPS the second. WOLF has a slight lead on the rolling average 25-54. This is a horse race down to the wire fellow cowboys. yeehaawww!

Thanks for the update Fitz!
The only thing missing from that post was "that brung'em" when you referred to which station brought listeners to the dance.
Yeah, go on and toot, toot, toot your own horn, i'll tell you this, keep wishing that most ssations in this town will play more and more country, not going to happen my friend!
Stations may play "cross over" artists like Faith & Chesney & such but they also play J-lo, Selena, marc Anthony too so are you going to say "Salsa, Merengue or Tejano music = ratings in Seattle?"
Keep wishing for a country dominated market because that's all it'll ever be - a wish! and one that won't come true.

It's already a country dominated market dude. Before KKWF came about, KMPS held a seven share 12+, holding the top spot in the Seattle. Now there's country stations popping up left and right be it big or small; KKWF the big one, KNBQ and KGY in the South Sound. The number of Country music listeners do out number any other format in Seattle/Tacoma.

If Entercom doesn't hire a real creative program director to keep the WOLF
howlin' - They are in real trouble. When Mahalick went to SF - They needed to hire a gun and they didn't. Rob Walker thinks he's in Ann Arbor or Little Rock. It ain't gonna keep flyin'

Last trend: Ichabod was number one 25-54 and on a four book he is number two behind KZOK. KKWF mornings were 5th 25-54 in the May trend and 6th on a four book. KKWF does much better 18-34 which must be their target. They have now surpassed KBKS as an 18-34 buy behind KUBE and KISW on a four book.
