Those who tire of hearing the same tracks repeatedly will switch to Spotify or Pandora.

They're not going to find The Men's Room on Spotify or Pandora. In fact they won't find any live hosts at all. That's why they use those services. People don't buy music anymore. They stream it. Spotify is their music collection. Radio plays music as an ancillary thing, not as its main purpose.

And that’s bringing me back to my original point on this thread. I’m a KISW listener. The playlist isn’t always what I’m looking for, but I’m there for the morning show and The Men’s Room. So it doesn’t really matter if they play the same song over and over.

KZOK does not have appealing local shows anymore. As I mentioned earlier, they still have Sarah, but she needs some help (in the capacity of iHeart finding her a new cohost). She’s basically the last person there, and she’s trying to keep the morning show going to the best of her ability. But you mentioned earlier that iheart may be nationalizing their morning show anyway. In that case, every local host who has been with the station will have been sent packing. At least for me, that’s the final straw where I’d probably just stop listening all together. I’ll still tune in for Sarah right now, but I’m not keen on listening if they remove the last local connection. If the music is dialed in (based on research), okay, but classic rock formatted music is the one attraction they have.

I can’t argue with the research, but it will have to be accurate. Local appealing content can balance out a music (and vise versa most likely), but in this case, they’ll have to get the national approach right.
