It's so pathetic that Click beats The Mountain handily. Arn't they embarassed over at the Canned Ham building? I would be. And they even have a translator downtown at 103.3!

No kidding. Just like it's so pathetic that Star beats KMCQ handily.

KMTT is just a shell of it's former self......

Poor KJR-AM. Was once a pioneering and dominant sports voice. But they have drained away so much talent over the years that there is a shell of a station left. Groz, Gas, Clayton, HotSHot, Sandy, and on and on. They aligned themselves so much with the Sonics, too. I know they have the Huskies, but the Mariners, Seahawks, and Sounders are KIRO properties. RIP KJR.

Hmm, look at KYNW's numbers, wasn't KJR at a 1.3 last month? Looks to me like KJR-AM lost some points when they dropped the fm, those listeners that they had on fm apparently stayed there. KQMV just seems to keep going up.

The thing with the Mountain is that they only really have John Fisher on the station and even the dumbest listener isn't going to believe that he does 6-9, sticks around for 3 hours then does 12-2.
They're going to know it's canned.
Is Entercom hurting that badly that they can't hire themselves a mid day talent? Or for that matter an afternoon drive talent?
Holy jeez! I mean come on Entercom, you HAD a GREAT station and you've flushed it all down the toilet and for WHAT?
As for KJR AM You can't blame management over at Elliott much, they're operating with what they're given budget wise and if talent doesn't think that's enough than they're going to walk.
I do think they need to tweek some programming over there, still don't get the Angels games being on the station.
I know Dibble sometimes works Angel games but if that's what the network is sending down the line go to NBC sports at that point, you're already broadcasting some of their programming anyhow.
I'd rather listen to bad sports talk at that point rather than a baseball game I have absolutely NO interest in at all.

I feel bad that "The Mountain" is not doing better in the ratings, I enjoy that station. It always does my heart good to see KIRO-FM sink lower and lower, ever since they went FM a few years ago they just not been what they used to be.

I just wonder how 97.3 would do if they went AAA (like KOHO in Leavenworth). Fill in some gaps and bring back some old Mountain listeners before it went "KZOK-clone" on us...

I like that idea. I think "The Ron and Don Show" should move to the entercom sister station, KTTH, as that particular show is really the only reason the station is projecting the ratings that they are.

Please don't use "poor" and any reference to a Clear Channel property in the same post. Good grief!

CC made a strategic decision to go all in on the re-location of the Kings. It was really not much more than a shameless attempt to position themselves as the loyalty option in the ensuing broadcast rights talks. They lost. The entire market lost, but mainly KJR-AM. They also went too far with it. The horse was more than dead when they finally gave it a rest.

Perhaps even more shallow was the way they immediately seized on the Coyotes relocation and guys (and girlz) who would never utter a word about hockey overnight became hockey enthusiasts.

In my opinion there are some easy explanations. 1.) This is a football town and 710 has the Seahawks, 2.) They talk too much Wazoo while being the Husky station, 3.) Levy is just mailing it in, 4.) Softy has raised the volume yet again when he should be taking it down a notch, 5.) Jerry, though brilliant and insightful is weak and Elise seems unable to adjust her energy level. And, yes we know you played basketball at U-Dub. We know, we know, we know!

The only thing that will save them this year is football season. With no major live sports franchise for them to ride, 2014 looks to be the year they crash.

I don't think you could move a non-ideological show to KTTH. Their core would howl at the "liberalization" of the format.

I just think KMTT is a joke now. There's no point in keeping it going like this.

KJR-AM was once a mighty station in so many ways. If CC shut the sports down and brought Pat O'Day back on and gave him a decent budget and free reign over 950 kHz again, you would see much better than this.

I think that most of the programming on KIRO-FM is a joke these days. I don't think any of the programming is engaging to someone who listens, and I feel they will just sink lower into the bottom of the ratings until they just do away with the format entirely.

Maybe if Seattle finally gets their act together and brings in an NHL team, KJR could get the rights broadcast those games! 8)

What is this "Fan 1090" station doing by the way? Do they broadcast any live sports or is just another generic talker?

Just got a chance to scan the ratings and am still amazed at how little this market changes in prime demos and day parts at the top of the heap. When you look at ratings where 80% of business is done (6a-7p in the 25-54 demos) in this market and it never seems to move. Top stations in men are KZOK neck and neck with KISW. For women KPLZ continues on top with overall adults going to KZOK. In mornings it is always KUOW, KZOK, KISW, KPLZ and someone else. The order of the first four varies but these four are usually in it 6a-7p. In mornings for women it is always KPLZ mornings and in men KZOK and KISW.

The country battle has gotten tighter and KJR-AM Flipping its FM to HOT-AC just killed KJR-AM cutting it in half 25-54. KIRO-AM now doubles them. Remind me why we need another station that plays Adele and Pink? Wonder if they will flip it back though I Heard a rumor KJR-AM is about to flip Conservative Talk and put on the Clear Channel lineup of Rush, Hannity and the rest. Bonneville would win the sports battle, but in exchange Clear Channel kills KTTH. Guess it is a fair trade. Could be an opening for KPTK if KJR-AM vacates but a small opening.

Biggest change I see in last six months is the domination of KQMV over CHR competitors KBKS and KUBE. Has not been a good year for Clear Channel. Entercom took a bit of beating this book too. KZOK beating KISW and KMPS beat KKWF in many prime demos and day parts. KMTT and THE END are both lost and have been for some time.

That happens every time Rush is up for renewal. Although with things lately at CC, it would not surprise me now. What surprised me was they haven't done it already.....

Since consistency is important, should note KQMV, KZOK, KISW, KKWF are all in the top 4 in both 18-49 adults & 25-54 adults 6a-7p total week...not necessarily ranked in this order, pretty much the last 4 months. KBKS & KPLZ have been close multiple months on the 18-49 side during that time, KPLZ & KCMS have been close multiple months on 25-54 side.

Hadn't noticed that but it is true when you look at Total Week. Country and CHR get a nice boost on the weekends which makes complete sense.Total week varies greatly since weekends are up and down because meters leave town and habits are different. 6a-7p Mon-Fri in prime demos is where 80% of the money is made and where PPM is most consistent. When you add in weekends KKWF joins the pack along with KQMV over the last six months. In Fall neither station was a factor.

I also notice nights are very strong for the CHR stations, which makes complete sense. KUOW is all about mornings and a bit in afternoons, not much more. Fits the pattern of news and talk products.

Again, you are right the market is VERY consistent. I sometimes wonder if that is because the market is consistent or is it just the change in methodology to PPM. Since people stay in the sample for up to two years if you don't have panelists that like your station it could be a long wait. KCMS went through this until about October when a big portion of the panel switched and they picked up listeners. KIRO FM saw the opposite happen when they lost about what KCMS picked up last year. Seeing the same thing with KQMV that picked up a ton of panelists in Fall, while KUBE lost a ton. May not be the station, could be the methodology that keeps certain stations on top for a long time. The real winners are those that survive in the top group of stations for two or three years through a complete panel change.
