Seattle's Classical stations (early years)

Hey Guys:

I know that in the early years Seattle had 2 classical stations:

KING first at 94.9 then 98.1. And KISW 99.9, 1950 to 1969. Were there any other classical stations during that time?

Thanks

T.J.

KING-FM donated it's 94.9 frequency to the University Of Washington, which renamed it KUOW. It too had classical programming (but also a healthy of educational programming.)

There was also KGMJ 95.7 and KLSN 96.5. Since FM in the '50s was geared towards Hi-Fi buffs, classical music was a staple on most FM stations then. KRAB 107.7 went on the air in 1962 as a non-commercial station (and would be until it's frequency was sold in 1984) and they often played the more obscure medieval classical music of the 15th and 16th centuries, although they were not a full time classical station by any means.

There's a few more....but it's too late for my brain to sort out.......

No. KUOW-FM 94.9 was originally KOMO-FM, a donation from the Fisher Family to the University of Washington. The tower that supported the KOMO-FM antenna was located next to the original KOMO building on 4th avenue and now resides as the top 150' of the existing KOMO-TV tower.

Whoa...thought 98.9 was the original KOMO-FM's frequency.....
