Seattle's Smooth Jazz Gone!!

Now that's one I thought would last awhile! Out of all the cities left, this one hits me hard. This station actually had a good, locally programmed sound. Phoenix now smooth AC. Seattle totally gone. This has been a worse end of 2010 than even I would have imagined.

I feel for the long time staff members who are put "on the beach" and for the format this is a big dose of tough love.. but even though this station was locally programmed and better than most it still leaned toward the snoozy side and played a lot of pop oldie vocals. This sound - the soft unobtrusive background "snooze" sound - has really hurt the image of the music and if a station gets stuck in a rut and can't evolve to meet the needs of listeners entering the lower end of the target demo (a more uptempo exciting sound..kinda like what we had before BA took all the interesting elements out) then it's a dog eat dog world.

Fans of this music are going to have to go to the internet but even the less tech saavy ones are learning how to do that -and when they learn how to do that they are going to realize how much fabulous music they missed when they defaulted to a station that played 15 year old Kenny G songs and 30 year old vocals.
