SEC MAY FORM SPORTS NETWORK IN 2014

Really nothing new here. The realignment of college football is really just an excuse to form new networks. This is wide-open territory, and for the taking. Money talks, and this will be the new norm in college football.

For the SEC's sake, its patience in doing this has allowed it observe how to do it right (Big Ten Network) and how to do it 'wrong' (the Mtn, featuring the Mountain West Conference).

With BTN pulling in nearly $80 million in profits, it's no surprise that the SEC is finally getting serious about a channel of its own.

Correct. The SEC actually looked into forming its own network prior to signing the 15-year, multimillion dollar deal with CBS and ESPN.
