Second Sacramento Libtalker To Add Local Show?

A R-I post by the afternoon drive host at the first Sacramento liberal talker, KSAC/1240, suggests that she (Christine Craft) will have competition soon:

<a target="_blank" href=http://www.radio-info.com/mods/board?Post=629240&Board=sacramento>http://www.radio-info.com/mods/board?Post=629240&Board=sacramento</a>

The new KCTC/1320 entrant is former KSTE/650 host Enid Goldstein, whose most recent full-time gig was at now-gone Denver market talker KNRC. She's done some fill-in after that, while attending to personal issues.

Craft's post here says Goldstein will be on 3-7 PM (PT), directly competing with her KSAC show. (I'm divining out the exact times from Ms. Craft's post - she said Enid would pre-empt the last hour of Randi Rhodes' AAR show and all of "The Majority Report" on 1320.)

KCTC is owned by Entercom, and KSAC is owned by a local woman, Paula Nelson-Redfield...who is the former owner of KBMB/103.5.

Good move; while Enid's show on KNRC got a bit content-light at times, she has an impressive resume of major market stations. Seems should could have gotten a better gig than this. If "Englewood Denver's premiere talk station" would have had more unique local content like her and less canned third-string syndicated crap, they might still be in existence rather than spinning indie tunes.

And Majority Report, which may be fine for stations looking to stick with Air America (since Entercom doesn't have much choice with KSAC having most of the non-AAR liberal talk) in late or overnights, isn't exactly ready for primetime in its live west coast drivetime daypart. Although Lionel would be a good fit to follow Enid, seeing that he is available due to the KSAC ownership's personal interest in clearing the urban stylings of Bev Smith. Were that to happen, I think 1320 could claim pretty certain victory to Class C KSAC against all but Miller and Schultz.

It didn't look like KNRC was able to hang in there with local talk vs. revenue.

Enid's very good, and had a decent listener base when she was at KSTE in Sacramento. It's a very good move by Mr. Geary and the folks at Entercom. The only problem I can see - the market's only two locally-based liberal talk shows compete against each other in the same daypart. Enid could have taken morning drive and covered a delayed "Air America Mornings" instead.

As far as the KSAC competition - well, they've managed to get some ratings with that class C stick. Not exactly KFBK or KSTE style ratings, but certainly better than competitive with KTKZ. We'll see how two stations in the format - both with a local host on the schedule - will split Sacramento's libtalk audience.

AllAccess, by the way, posted the story tonight...Enid apparently starts by the end of January.

No, complete change of topic.
Possible difference here: Does Enid alienate advertisers?

Enid is commercial advertiser friendly, one would assume, after many years of work at mainstream major market talkers...and her new gig is at a station owned by a large group owner (Entercom). :D

As for the question, as far as I've heard, Arnie Arnesen is not coming to Sacramento. Oh, you mean in general? Haven't heard anything, either.
