Depending on what the authorities find, this could be a bigger deal than what's being reported. The combination of a uniformed guard being attacked at a TV station, could be the serious concern.
You've probably seen in the news, especially in Europe, radicalized splinter cells are being recruited and encouraged to attack police and security. Basically anyone with a uniform. If that's the case in this instance, there may be a natural tie-in with a guard at a TV station, because the radicalized individual WANTS the publicity. What better way to do it than right in the lobby or doorstep of a news outlet? I sure hope this isn't the case here.
Moreover, these days if I were a TV station GM, I'd be concerned for the safety of my staff just entering or leaving the building. Especially on air talent. Stations should consider using real trained and armed guards, hopefully former mercenaries, to escort staff to and from their vehicles. Not mall cops.
