Sedano to WQAM

I hear that Jorege Sedano will be the new PD at WQAM replacing Lee Feldman who has left the building. I also hear Sedano will replace Michael Irvin in the 10a slot once that contract expires in July. Hiring Sedano to replace Irvin is a great move for WQAM. But Sedano as PD? and has Feldman left the building?

Can anyone shed any light on either of these things? Is Lee still at WQAM?

Good idea to get rid of "mumblin'" Michael Irvin. Had a hard time understanding half of what he said. If true, good choice FINALLY for Joe Bell bringing on Jorge. Poor Curtis Stevenson. Was Mandich's lap dog forever and then Irvin's. HE should go to 640 instead of Rosenberg.

Jorge is a very smart guy. He may not have experience as a PD, but if anyone can program against 790, it's him. Glad to hear this.

Heard Lee is done in July. Yes Sedano will be PD, but in reality GSM Chris Jones programs the station, which for the most part has resulted in a string of crappy moves. Ie Irvin, Sileo etc

You can't program a station based on sales, you need to be able to sell good programming. After years at the helm Jones and Bell still haven't figured that out.

In all fairness---what can WQAM do to get better ratings and/or billing, if:

(1) they are on AM (we have to ignore being 96.5's HD2 here),*
(2) the don't have the coverage they used to have, what with electrical noise and such, AND they did not get their power boost,
and (3) they have no pro team contracts outside of the Panthers?

And as far as local, um, talent, who's really available out there?

*Maybe 104.3 in the future is a possibility (as mentioned somewhere on this site), but they have to prove themselves worthy as a force in this town. No easy climb here :)

It depends if WQAM is open to expanding programming outside of sports. If they are, I'd put in Joe Castello.

Did anyone read the Lee Feldman goodbye email? I heard it was floating around Facebook. He allegedly blasted a bunch of people on the way out. Anyone actually see it posted anywhere?

Hopefully Jorge rescues Sports Brothers from crappy 640, those guys are too good for that hellhole. It would be a good move for 560 to sign them, really entertaining show.

Anyone know how this is going? Barry Jackson said in a recent column, his non compete was over a week ago. Haven't seen or heard anything in a while?
