Don't forget Jeff "Playing What **I** Want" Kovarsky (so why not call it "Jeff-FM?") I suspect the Bone's days are numbered, along with KLIF. If Cumulus is as bottom-line-oriented as you all say, they'll fill KLIF with their own syndicated programs, and flip the Bone to either Spanish or to one of their cookie-cutter formats. Jeff, Scott and the gang will be out immediately, as the corporate model works only with "yes" men who'll carry out the National PD's orders without questioning them. In fact, I'd guess that anyone making over $25K FT or over $10/hour PT will be shown the door.

Prediction: In 2 months, you'll hear, "I'm Jeff Kovarsky with traffic on La Preciosa, 97.1."

Given the circumstances, that may be where they are now, but just don't realize or admit it. If to observe is observance, is to ignore, ignorance?

Jeff won't be doing traffic. His new job will be "Hi I'm Jeff with Honey Baked Ham""Would you like to reserve yours for the Holiday'?

Well, since they don't pay anyone worth a damn to begin with (outside of Scotty boy and his trusty sidekick, Jeff) the leaves quite a bit to stay. I forsee it becoming "Jeffe K en Los Tardes ! Noventa Tres punta Tres! El Hueso! La Estación eso Tejanos Dificilmente Mas!" As far as "yes men" is concerned, Scotty doesn't have anything to blackmail the Cumulus crowd with, so he'll likely end up managing a girls softball team in North Zulch.

Re: Hey Hater, I'll use my real name

I understand that people have different views, but
it seems a little unfair that you need to throw out hate hiding behind a fake name.

I'll be glad to answer any issues you might have. It's only fair that
if you want to be negative and have beefs with me that you use your real name.

Robert Bass and Charles123 have views and say them without hiding who they are.

The views could be valid but they seem cheap if your can't stand behind them with your real name.

Sorry - I hit the send button too early.

First of all, Strong, thanks for chiming in. I see you get beat up very regularly here. Don't know if you deserve it or not, but no one seems to be able to pinpoint exactly what you've done. There are a lot of random jabs thrown, but nothing that is concrete. I would be willing to bet some of these are former jocks that are no longer employeed by you. So be it, but if they are still unemployed, or unemployed again, maybe they should look in the mirror and see where the problem is. However, if they want to back up their name-calling, this is definitely the forum for that. I highly suspect that Radio-Omen was never anything more than a jock sniffer riding on your previous morning show's coattails.

Re: Sorry - you shouldn't have hit it at all

Um, do I see a problem here? You have contributed only 3 posts to the board, but feel Scott's pain for being beat up "regularly" on here? Scott, did you register TWO aliases or something? I see no one else running to your rescue on the board.

I'm just an outsider looking in when it comes to Susquehanna; I've had two offers to work there and turned both down. Why? The company has a bad reputation for taking advantage of employees, the management resembles cut-rate versions of Kurt and Company at Infinity (and THAT'S a tough one to accomplish, looking cheaper and less caring and oblivious to reality than Kurt!), and the constant, ongoing word from the inside is that a consortium of you, Jeff K, Dan Bennett and perhaps one other person basically run the joint solely for the purpose of your personal entertainment and whim. Did you think this reputation would escape the radio enthusiasts of DFW? Whether you care about others' opinions, the Arb's say it all. ONE winner out of four stations. KPLX is the only calling card you all can float in front of Corporate to keep them off your backs. All in all, I can honestly say that each of you have done a horrible job there, and have done a terrible disservice to the listeners and radio employees of the area. It's time for a big change over there, and it must start at the top. The glass house you all reside in WILL tumble and shatter. I just hope that the multitude of toes you all have stepped on along the way will keep each of you from finding future employment in this market. What's the saying about 'the a$$ you kick may be the a$$ you have to kiss one day'?

I've even seen the most desperate of out-of-work radio people leave the industry before they'd work for Susquehanna. It's just not a positive, well-run, and growth-oriented environment. The responsibility for that must fall on someone's shoulders, and guess what, you're the lucky recipient. Good luck at your next job, wherever in the country it may be.

WHEW! Alice really let you have it on that one Scott. I too find it interesting that the sole post to your defense was one who had just joined this forum.
The formats The ZONE,MERGE,BONE allfailed miserably under your direction. When the Bone first started, many LIKED it,and it was taking its toll on KZPS plus you had BO,then you blew it. BO returns to KZPS,the talent level at the Bone depletes, and the music turns to crap. You had a part timer there with many years of Experience,Jonathon Hayes (AKA Judge) who had a lot to offer BUT Jeff K never gave him a set schedule to develop an audience. Judge was not treated with the respect he deserved. It came across that Jeff was fearful Judge had more talent than he ( and Jonathon does BTW) so he screws it up so much,Judge quits. You guys don't want someone who actually knew classic rock than just playing it You wanted someone who was cheap and sounded cheap, plus someone who would not question you, or take the time to offer valid suggestions. You wanted a warm body with little or no experience so your infinite wisdom would not be questioned. The results? You tanked the station. Give yourself an out..resign before the new owners fire you,and your current staff plus former staff pop champagne corks.

Who is Scott Strong?

ed, I know we've had our differences ... to say the least :).

But who is Scott Strong?

I honestly don't know except that he is connected to the Bone ... pardon the phrasing, but it's late.

Or you can tell me ... Scott.

Finally, and least important -- is that his real name?

I SWEAR, it's not me Bossman! I've been known to speak my mind and not hide the fact it's me, haven't I? ;)

Re: What's the reason you can't use real name?

Hey Edward R. Murrow and Batman. You will blast people
AS LONG AS NO ONE KNOWS WHO YOU ARE! Very easy to throw out B.S. when you
are not held responsible for it.

Channing, Thank you for chimming in. You are a very talented on-air
personality who I enjoyed listening to every night. You will be back soon because of the drive and passion you have.

Edward, Alice and Batman why not tell people who you are. The people who truly
believe enough in their views are not hiding behind their fake names.

Re: Who is Scott Strong?

Batman,

Strong's a punk whos been allow to run amuck at Susquehanna(via upper managment) and taken the ZONE,MERGE and now BONE formats and bumrush em' to hell. Basically, the guys like Howard Sterns old PD "Pig Vomit", a guy whos in radio who really has no business being there. In Jeff's part in these matters, I really dont blame him in this situation. He's a pretty decent cat whos just been working with a really bad PD. I wish Mr. K the best in this or another market after Cumulus impolds the Susquehanna nation, and may Strong end up like Pig Vomit and working as a manager of a car lot :)

Re: Sorry - you shouldn't have hit it at all

Dear Alice, so you are a cook? Hmmm - and you know about radio how? Nope. Definitely not Scott. I see that he can post under his own name. He's a big boy, I'm sure.

Because I only have 3 posts that makes me know less than you? Hey, whatever gets you through the day.

You admittedly have no experience working for or with Scott or Susquehana. I'm sure they are very happy they didn't hire you. Thanks for passing on those opportunities.

Again, I'm asking for concrete proof of shy Scott and Susquehana suck. All you've offered up is a bunch of heresay.

I would be interested in hearing who exactly the memebers here think runs a good radio company. I don't recall seeing any particular company getting props here. They all get rundown.

I'll bet you are glad you are a cook and not in this wacky business.

First, a post further down the string states that KPLX is the only shining star in the Susquehanna Dallas stable. Let me correct that. KTCK is a powerhouse. Often people suffer from "their own backyard" syndrome. Nationally KTCK is viewed as a standard in the Sports Talk Arena.

Personally I always hoped 93.3 would go true AAA but that hasn't happened. Their switch to the Bone was a strategic masterpiece. Everything fell into place. The ensuing execution leaves much to be desired. With it's inherent signal issues, 93.3 needs to offer something so special that listeners will seek it out. After the launch of The Bone, KZPS made many knee-jerk mistakes. Once the EAGLE went bye-bye, the situation worsened.

Here's a message to both stations YOU CAN'T BE ALL THINGS TO ALL PEOPLE (you can't even be too many things to too many people). That's another discussion entirely.

Scott, you know this board (often this "bored") is full of bitter people who claim to love the industry but hate everything about it. Here's a reality check: Mom & Pop are gone and they ain't coming back. It's a corporate EBITA-focused world out there. You can either get on the bus and try to make it as good as you can, or you can sit back and make the "bitter-beer" face all day long.

I watched closely as John Larsen (affectionately referred by some as "squinty-eye" --- how classy) had his hands tied by corporate and was forced to make decisions that went against his beliefs. Don Quixote could afford to tilt at windmills but the most of us need that paycheck.

Scott, you have managed to stay in high profile jobs for many years working for corporations that have millions of dollars on the line. You must be doing something right in their eyes. It will be interesting to see what happens when the new owners come in. My guess is that they will look for the stations that have the biggest upside (as in lowest performing stations) to work on. KPLX and KTCK are doing nicely (I would see what room for potential growth exists for them and determine if investing more in them would give me a decent ROI). That brings us to KDBN and KLIF. In spite of it's anemic ratings, KLIF has historically had a strong power ration (Revenue to AQH Share). KDBN should be their first project. I'm guessing that you will position yourself as the person to lead the change (as in --- now with the proper, previously lacking support, you know what needs to be done).

For your sake, I hope it works out. People on this board are so cavalier with their "fire his/her a$$, see you in hell stuff. I have been out of work a couple of times in the industry. It ain't fun, especially with a family to support. If you wind up gone from the station, you still have the luxury of some tenure in the #5 market on your resume. Just like a fired NFL coach, I have no doubt you will land somewhere.

Oh, and by the way, I am a huge fan of "Scooter in the Van"

Re: Sorry - you shouldn't have hit it at all

Judge ... err edwardmurrow, Alice the cook hurt my feelings a little, but I'll bounce back.

Just because I've only made a few posts here that makes me less than either of you how? Well, whatever it takes to get you through the day. This is a public board. Right? And are either of you King of this board? Or is it your goal to just "let people have it" that don't agree with you? That's not playing nice.

Cook - again, you didn't answer my question? You only gave a lot of hearsay. I'll bet Susquehana is indeed glad you passed up their offers. They appeared to have dodged a bullet there. Do you have to wear a hair net in your current job? I'll bet that is a bad look. Sorry.

Jonathon, err ... edwardmurrow, your post was very self-serving. I do have a question for you? Why do you write in third person? That makes me chuckle.

You are so big and bad behind a screen name, but I've been visiting here for a very long time and you are really just a bully. Go bully someone else. I've grown tired of you and you no longer amuse me (and only in 4 posts by me - I'm a quick learner).

Again, don't be bitter because Bone didn't start firing full-timers they already had obligations to just because you are that great. Perhaps you should have paid your dues and not gone in there like THEY owed YOU.

So, you guys hate Susquehana. You hate Clear Channel. You hate infinity. You hate Cumulus. I don't recall seeing ABC/Disney taking a lot of bashing. Who are you guys working for that is so great? Help a fellow radio person out.

DUDE: You are waaaaay too silly. FYI "Alicethecook" is a takeoff on famed British Broadcaster, journalist "Alistair Cooke"who once was the host for many many years "Masterpiece Theater" on PBS. He also holds the distinction of having the longest running radio program ever, "Letter from America" broadcasted on the BBC from 1949 to 2001. There, you learned something.
Your two recent posts show that you apparently work at The Bone, and you maybe ol'Scott himself. Shameful.Look at the posts past and present, Scott Strong is not a PD..period. He is most likely still in that position becasue no one else wants the job and have their stellar reputation tarnished by the crap he has done.He is a liability and once the new owners take over, the first order of business is to tear down The Bone, fill the freq. with ocean wave sounds( ratings will likely increase),fire Scott and Jeff, and then make it a radio station that will attract listeners.

KTCK ... The Ticket to ... "Guy Talk" ...

Well, more like "The Guy Talk and T&A Arena".

But I understand that's what pulls in the men who wouldn't know a post pattern from a post hole.

And never will.

With what? A 50-foot, eight-element beam antenna.

I hope not because you have already stated the obvious ... obviously.
