Seeing more changes

I started noticing the changes on 60s on 6. No more Wolfman Jack in the middle of the day. I agree with this change. Plash isn't on in the mornings. Maybe this is the week he takes his vacation.

I turned on 80s on 8 at 8:AM central time hoping to hear Rick Dess and the Weekly top 40 but instead heard normal programming with Mark Goodman. The 80s jocks werent on at their regular times or not at all this week.

Several changes on 60's on 6 - Phlash has been on vacation, but Terry Young and Broadway Bill Lee have flipped shifts - so Motormouth is on nights (EST), which is too bad - and it also means the Sonic Sound Salute is not in PM drive on Fridays.

The playlist has tightened up noticeably and the Cousin Brucie sweepers seem to be helping to make for less jock talk/more voice-tracked rock.

Oh well....

Looks like 20 on 20 is changing for the worse,a new morning show comming jan12,thats just what we need if i want a morning show ill go back to fm,dont get me wrong im all for changes but come on more talk, what happened to just music thats why i got it in the first place,oh well i can save moey each month when i cancel my 3 radios.

We heard the same American Top 40 two weekends in a row on 80s on 8. We always listen on Sunday morning. Also, I was listening to one of the talk channels last week and suddenly it started playing drums. The drums played for about five minutes, then a recording that this channel was having technical problems and someone would correct it shortly... in multible voices. The recording played for over an hour.

I guess letting all of the help go means we are going to see more of these kind of snafus.

I think the 80s has to be the worsed of the decade channels. I am not sure that Rick Stacey is there anymore. I get why they are doing this but you need radio jocks to do radio. I don't dislike the people the 80s have from MTV in the 80s but I just think radio people work better.

I like Cousin Brucie on the 60s; But they shouldn't use him as a production voice. Of course they fired the one they had.

The one that needs to go is Nina Blackwood on 80's on 8. Horrible jock.

I don't know about Nina B being horrible (after all, she WAS one of the ORIGINAL MTV VJs...8)), but I was under the impression that "80's on 8" was gonna be more XM-ized, anyway...bringing in some of their guys (including XM morning man Rick Stacey) and basically giving the air staff an "extreme makeover"...???

Andrea

Another board is noting that 80's on 8 is supposedly down to less than a 400 song playlist. That means some songs are being played up to four times daily to fill the air time.

From my ears, 60's, 70's, and 90's are about as thin these days as well. I keep hearing the same songs over and over. This is getting really ridiculous.

Dude, have we been listening to the same "70's on 7" channel? 'cos i'm NOT noticing the repetition... ???

Want great 50's, 60's, Oldies without all the stupid talking, talking, talking, and more talking? Tune in to internet streaming from 1260 Radio WAMS, Newark/Wilmington, DE. 128 kbps Stereo. Its been on all day here and no repeats at all. Great music no talking. No Brag, Just Fact! Sirius/XM is for the brain dead on the decades channels. All due respect to you Andreajesus! Really! BTW I'm on the west coast.

The Motormouth's show has been sounding the same to me for several months now.
It's as if he is stuck in 1969 or something.
I hear mostly classic rock or those really long album cuts.
Enough of "Suite Judy Blue Eyes" already!

Thanks for the tip. It sounds really good!!!!!!

Hold onto your belt buckles 80's music fans. Thomps2525 (who does a great job compiling playlists over on xm fan dot com) tracked the songs played for the last 7 days on 80's on 8. The grand total? It's official: a whopping 390 different tracks. This for a commercial-free satellite radio channel. This is ridiculous!

And a little more on how far the 80's on 8 has slid, once again courtesy of Thomps2525:

"In the first four days of 2009, the post-merger '80s On 8 channel played [...] nothing by Neil Diamond, Stevie Wonder, Barbra Streisand, Paul McCartney, Marvin Gaye, Laura Branigan, Donna Summer, Peabo Bryson, Eddie Rabbitt, Crystal Gayle, Whitney Houston, Jody Watley, Michael Jackson, Janet Jackson, Peter Cetera, Kenny Rogers, Chrsistopher Cross, Gloria Estefan, Lionel Richie, Dionne Warwick, Diana Ross, Debbie Gibson, Irene Cara, Cher, Sade, labama, Air Supply, Heart, Commodores, Spinners, New Edition, Milli Vanilli, or New Kids On The Block. They did, however, play one of Elton John's 21 chart hits of the decade. '80s On 8??? Really???"

Hey, Rick Stacey (PD of "80's on 8"), where the heck are you?? :) An "80's on 8" channel's GOT TO HAVE at the very least some of these core 80's acts on their playlist... :)

It seems that the 80s on 8 is a leaning a little harder, meaning more rock sounding than pop... especially in the afternoons (eastern time). I have stopped listening in the afternoon.

FOX Business is gone from the XM line up, and most of the reasons I subscribed to XM Radio in the first place. Leave it to Mel to blow up satellite radio like he did tradition over the air broadcasting; I took the $30 a month going towards XM an subscribed to Dish network instead. The sound quality is far better, than XM and I get pictures too. I have also found streaming broadcasters that walk circles round Sirius/XM in terms of deeper playlist and better sound quality.

With the stock down to 9cents, the end may be near for satellite radio anyway. Way to go Mel!

The XM Signal email lists the following channels are coming back on Thursday 01/15/09:
(although 2 are from Sirus)

BONEYARD Ch55 Hard -n- Heavy Classic Rock
Backspin (was XM Rhyme) CH65 Old School Hip Hop
The Strobe (was XM Chrome) CH83 Disco/Classic Dance

Just noticed Mike Church is on XM 166 (America Right) Mid-3 am ET; had never heard him before but I guess he was on Sirius, prob still is...think this may be a delayed broadcast. Conservative talk with humor
(I guess he does parody songs and will refer to people by nicknames: Ben Bernancke becomes Ben
Beryankme, for example).

I think Roy Masters was on at this time before. I think I like this better
