Seeking Agent Advice

Desperately seeking more work, I am prayerfully considering finding an agent. Although I am blessed to have a decent sounding resume (mostly in reporting/DJing/production/interviewing/imaging), my goal is to increase income by using the voice that God gave me "for good, not evil." While I find it obvious not to pitch myself for anything that would flagrantly promote that which I oppose, it would be foolish of me not to seek counsel of others who have tried the agent route. I am a member of AFTRA, and would like to hear input from anyone in the NYC or nearby surrounding markets.
