SEEKING AUTOMATION SOFTWARE

I read several opinions about radio automation software so I know I will get wise-experienced advice. I am looking for very affordable automation software for my home. I have used DRS2006 Professional for 11 or 12 years and it has developed a strange problem of not holding the audio starting points. Sometimes when a song starts, it cuts into the audio by two or three beats. Weird thing is, it is not consistent nor does it matter if it is an original song or something new I just placed into the computer. I have tried to work with DRS on this issue, but they either don't understand the problem or they can't resolve the issue themselves. I am convinced there is something out there that I can use for my home automation computer that will work and not have the issues I am experiencing with DRS. Are there any DRS2006 users out there that have had the same issue? I love the software, it's ease of use, user friendly screen and reliability. It never crashes. I am just fed up with this chopped off at the beginning of song(s) issue that I can't seem to clear up. This post is getting long winded.....thanks in advance for your recommendations.

Thanks ncfradio for posting the link to DRS2006. I like to play with old software as much as I like to drive old tractors.

Anywho, I downloaded this appy and will play with it tomorrow as I try to find a quick and durdee audio file player for a morning show. I'm wanting to find a player for laugh tracks/fart sounds/applause, etc. that's easy to configure and use.

DRS promised a cart machine that I'm hoping to use....

We will see how this works.

Thanks again.

@ncfradio : StationPlaylist Studio has been mentioned a few times as being affordable - it does a fair amount for the price and is great as a non-stop system. It isn't what I'd call "DJ-friendly" as it only has 1 single player but does offer a cartwall window for instant "drops". mAirList, a German program has a very active user-base here in Europe and a Home Licence is available.

@TomZ: There are a couple of good cartwall apps around, JinglePalette from over here in Europe was a good free one but I the website has since gone. My own version is dated 2005. My own program, DAC Cartwall may be what you're looking for - Glen Pavlovich handles USA sales/support so please give his website a look: http://www.directaudiocenter.com. There are a couple of DAC users here so if they wish to chime in with their comments (good or bad!)...

Just looking for something that will play back music randomly with crossfade features. Do not need scheduling software, etc. Something like Station Playlist looks interesting. I haven't been shopping for software for years and just need some advice.

Why not just download the free version of Zara and be done with it? It should be more than adequate for your purposes.

ZaraRadio is a great app. I use it at home to grab some streams I enjoy and sometimes I will open Audacity 1.3 (set on vox) for the times I might not be home.

But for random play, I suggest WinAmp v5.34 because of the plugins.

ymmv

I am going to use Stationplaylist for a startup. You get, playback, scheduling, and voicetraction for a great value.

I'd go for either SAM, Zara, or StationPlaylist. I think you will be happy with either of the three, for the use that you are looking for.

Thanks for the suggestions. I am going to try ZaraRadio to see if it is what I am looking for.

ZaraRadio is worth the effort and it's way too bad the discussion board has closed down.

Just one example is the temperature and humidity 'plugin' that tells me such things as I wakeup.

It truly is more feature rich than people allow.

Station Playlist has excellent (very low cost) tech support, and a useful user support forum on Yahoo Groups. I'm pretty happy with the functionality and value for money.
