Seeking frequency agile fm exciter

J Boyd: How's your RF skills?

Have a Continental 802A that's been re-capped in the last five years, makes 50 watts on a dummy load--but has one problem: on most antennas it shuts down immediately, thinking it is in VSWR fault. Dave Hultsman believes the PA is generating spurs that leads to the protective shutdown. We were using it for a booster transmitter at a site where the equipment was housed in a barn--flaky power popped the Darlington regulator transistor, and burned up a coil sitting on the output (value unknown~not shown on the schematic~but definitely large value of "L" for FM frequencies). After that, unit never worked right.

I don't have either the time or the test equipment to work on it (spectrum analyzer would probably should the problem immediately.

Make me a reasonable offer !
