Senior Road Update

If all goes well the rest of this week, testing will begin this weekend on the Senior Road new antenna and combiner system. This means that all 9 on the tower will begin broadcasting in analog and digital.... if the installation passes all the electronic tests. Run out now and buy your $400 radio today!

About time, I gues it takes a lot longer than I thought it would for all the updates to be complete. I dont think I will update my radio anytime soon untill they start splitting off the signals and maybe split one to a dance station??

What will the tests consist of? Extreme low power output while the aux sites keep running, or will they fire it all up full blast, presumably in the early hours of the morning?

I recently bought a Kenwood EZ900HDS and so far on KHPT, KIOL, KKRW, KLDE and others, the sound quality is amazing. I'm in the Galleria area and keep a lock on KIOL's digital signal as far west as Katy, even when the analog is barely usable. This may be KIOL's salvation...if digital radios ever become affordable for the general public....

Not a lot of over the air testing. All the new combiner modules, metering and combining of the digital ports will be tested for efficiency and to make sure all is connected correctly in the system. The aux's might have to go off for a short period when test signals are passed thru the combiner and transmission line to the new antenna, cause of the need to see an "clean" picture of the rf paramenters (without the monitored signal on the test gear being affected by Kilowatts of energy less that 1000' away).
