Sept PPM and Yes some change!

Well okay...No change at the top with KISW and KPLZ in the top two positions 25-54 adults. KISW well ahead in all male demos from 18-34 to 25-54 and KPLZ well ahead in all female demos from 18-34 to 25-54. That part is dull, but good for these two stations over the last few months.

The change is elsewhere in the book:

1. KMPS has caught up with the WOLF 25-54 and beats them in morning drive 25-54 with Candy and Potter gone. WOLF has dropped steadily since the new KMPS morning show has launched. Seems KMPS is making it a battle in the country world again.

2. KUOW is the number one station in the market in mornings 25-54 with KJR, KPLZ, KIRO and KISW rounding out the rest. Seems heavy personality and talk in the morning is winning. So much for music is all that matters.

3. WARM had another poor book. Seems summer and SOFT-AC don't mix. Christmas music to kick off November 1 this year?

Knowing KRWM and Christmas, they may as well start it on Halloween. And withing MINUTES, KJR-FM will likely abruptly trot out it's own Holiday format change (did good for them last year.) Wonder how this will all work at 95.7 MHz with Bob Rivers and Steve Slaton at the helm. Especially after the 3rd week of this music....

Some other observations:  KMCQ is still holding on to their 2.7 share, right behind KMTT.  I also noticed that KKCW from Portland (K-103) appears on the Seattle list (The very bottom).  How far south does the PPM cover?  I remember on some good days down in Olympia, 103.3 comes in like as though it's a local staton.

Actually correction, right behind KJAQ (Jack-FM). KMTT has already fallen behind KMCQ.

@ Skyhyde: "How far south does the PPM cover?"

KKCW would show up in the Seattle book if one member of the "panel" (person with a meter) went to Portland and listened to that station.

It's actually not that unusual to pick up KKCW (although spotty - there's also a translator for KGHO somewhere down there on 103.3) with KXL-FM and KINK in the South Sound. I even heard them in Federal Way.....

KINK is great fun to listen to. Totally unique and unafraid to take chances.

My wife actually listens to KINK online once in a while around the house. But she's much more specific in her musical choices, whereas I'm simply all over the map. Literally when it comes to online radio - Anyone up for some 4BH? - I still think THIS is the way KIXI should go....

KINK and KKCW are the best stations to pick up here in the Puget Sound area. Here in Kitsap County where I live now, alot of the Portland (and even some Yakima) stations come in great, when you are parked at the Silverdale waterfront park. Another great place (although it's cheating), is up at the top of Green Mountain, although most of the stations up there are from Vancouver and Victoria. Even the low-powered CFRO can be picked up there with a sensitive enough car radio as well as CKWV from Nanaimo.

KINK is a semi-regular into Bellevue, also have heard KXL occasionally. KWJJ/KKRZ are much harder and here forget K103, as
KMTT's xlator in Downtown Seattle hammers it.

Re swhyde1980: What Yakima stations do you get at Silverdale? I was at a relative's house down in Auburn and caught possibly the KYAO xlator in Olympia WAY under KISM on 92.9, 95.3 KXLE Ellensburg, 99.5/100.3/101.1/101.9 Portland, the monster KPQ, K103 Portland plus KWLN Wilson Creek, WA (SS music), KFFM 107.3 and a very weak Hope 107.9 out of Albany, OR (200 mi down I-5!!).

KPQ doesn't come in at the waterfront up there like it does in West Bremerton against all the hilltops blocking the west, because KSWW drowns out their signal once you move past those hills.  Same with KXLE vs. KXXK.  KFFM from Yakima comes in well over Victoria's CHBE-FM on the waterfront there.  KXDD also used to come in good until KAFE moved to 104.1.
