Sept PPMs

ODC is still holding a nice share.. I wonder if they will still go Christmas this year...

TVN has rebounded some but I am guessing you could attribute that to election season.

If CKX keeps dropping their sister station at 106.3 will have higher ratings. [heck The River is beating them this book].

LVQ still dropping... Wilks needs to do something [I am sure the poor audio quality, drop outs, dead air and voicetracking isn't helping this legendary rocker]

WMNI-AM has dropped lower than 1230 WYTS... GASP.. That even possible? I never thought I would see that.

[Book would be more fun to look at if Arbs went back to listing everyone but sadly doubt we'll ever see that again].

Here they are:

No need for ODC to go Christmas this year.

TVN rebounding may be because of it's tOSU football coverage and and it's election year coverage.

Is this the lowest 6+ share LVQ has ever recorded? If so, I think Daddy Wags departure from the
morning show has a lot to do with downward slide in ratings, along with the above.

This is the lowest 6+ share WMNI-AM has ever recorded in it's history on the air.

Congratulations to Clear Channel Columbus for another great book as they capture the first four
slots in ratings.

I have no doubt WODC will still go Christmas. The last holiday book -- after they were already oldies -- netted them an 11.4 share. Why cede that franchise to WSNY?

Jack-FM moved 1.5->1.7->1.9. Hopefully for them the climb will continue, to and past the 2.1 high they had in February and March of this year. Maybe the demos are better.

WODC and WBNS had fantastic Septembers, congrats to them.

WLVQ however is attempting to reach rock bottom. Of interesting note is M25-54 6a-10a... WLVQ is 7th with a 5.1 share. I can't remember them ever being this low with men. This got the wheels turning so I hoped in the way back machine.

Spring 2001 (yes, a randomly picked real printed book from 2001)

WLVQ M25-54 6a-10a
#1 14.9 share

Some other fun facts from Spring of 2001.

WLVQ M-Su 6a-12m
A25-54 #1 (9.3 Share)
A18-49 #2 (9.7 share)
M18-49 #1 (13.7 share)
M25-44 #1 (14.6 share)
M25-54 #1 (12.7 share)
M35-64 #1 (10.8 share)

QFM is finally reaping the results of being absolutely imaginative and staid with that format for at least the past 15 years, probably longer. Nothing new, ever.

Wow, Q-FM has fallen quite hard since '01. Unreal and sad for such a heritage, 35 year old Rock station...although Rock radio as a whole isn't doing well in several markets.

Same thing happened to WBNS when they started simulcasting 1460 the Fan on 97.1. All the listeners moved to FM and the AM went downhill. They no longer simulcast now but the AM still struggles. So pretty much the same thing can be said about WMNI. Nice to see the Blitz went up in the ratings. I wonder how well they would do if they took Blazor and Mo back for the mornings?

Maybe reaching here, but regarding the overall slide of WTVN in recent months, I wonder if 93.3 is taking part of that audience? Hit's a demo that was underserved musically right in the sweet spot and maybe those listeners are tiring of the same old same old on the talk side. I personally used to listen to talk and after a while it got old. But that was several years ago. Maybe others have finally tired of it too?

Maybe if WTVN staffed their newsroom 24/7 and had plenty of reporters on staff like they did a few years ago would also help WTVN in the ratings. Over a few years ago, you would occasionally see WTVN reporters on the street. I haven't seen them on the streets in years. Now, people have
complained over the years on some of the WTVN talk-shows about this. It is said it's not economically feasible at this time to have a full complement of news people and staff at WTVN.

I'd say they're tired of the specific guys who are doing the talking anyways. Things were fine until Rush declared Sandra Fluke to be a slut and a prostitute. It's been all downhill for the station ever since, except for the recent upswing that will swing back down again following the election.

What is or isn't "economically feasible" simply depends on how greedy the owning company is. And Greed is Bain Capital's middle name.

Sounds like reasonable theories to me.

Allowing a week-old newscast to play is pathetic. And eviscerating the news staff seems extreme and counterproductive. OTOH, the news-staffing levels of old make couldn't possibly make sense in the internet age, especially outside the very largest markets.
