September PPM's ... And we have a winnerS

WDAS-FM rose slightly and WIP-FM dropped just a bit to share the pole position at 6.6. WMGK came in at 6.5. B101.1 clawed their way to 6.1 but has quite a ways to go if they're going to reach their former stratosphere. WMMR stayed pretty steady with 6.0. WXTU is up almost half-a-point to 5.7. WOGL dropped two-tenths to 5.5, good for 7th place. Power 99 is up over a point from 3.9 to 5.0, so I may have buried the lede here. WISX continued their upward trend (4.5 - 4.7 - 4.9) so they're in the top 10. Speaking of #10: It's KYW which continued their downward trend (4.0 - 3.8 - 3.7 - 3.7 - 3.4). BEN-FM, WPPZ, and WRFF are having a three-way at 11th place with 3.1.

Elsewhere: Q102 (2.7) is off two-tenths while WTDY (2.5) rose a tenth in what's shaping up to be the most boring situation ever. WRTI cracked the 2's, coming in at 2.1. WPHI is at 1.9 which for all I know might be the highest they've reached? WPHT continues downward, which just goes to show you that "something has to be done at that station" (or something like that).

As usual, WBEB led in cume with nearly 1,400,000. They're followed by WOGL, the only other station to crack a million...though third-place WMGK (997,900) certainly came close.

The interesting thing to me is that WMGK is in the Top 5 with the 18-34 demo. I've seen this in a number of places where classic rock is very popular with young people. In fact I was at a concert just last night by a group of 20-something musicians, and at one point, the guitar player quoted Jimi Hendrix's unmistakable riff from VooDoo Child. Young people revere classic rock. They seem to prefer to in a lot of places to current rock. But they don't have that same affection for classic hits. You won't find WOGL in the 18-34 demo.

Power 99 got their highest 25-54 share in over a year; in 18-34, they're still on top but they now have a double-digit share and are 3 full shares ahead of the stations tied at #2; and they're on top in 18-49 as well. Seeing this reminded me of the conversation we had a few days back about whether the 6+ numbers are "useless." 6+ numbers aren't "used" but I continue to think they can be instructive and I think the numbers discussed in this paragraph are perfect examples.

You surely already know this but I want to be sure to give attribution. This info is courtesy of AllAccess.

But constantly bashing one particular station, when one company has all three properties floundering. Yet nothing is said, because you like their product in general, is more than an agenda, and sounds like THEY have a problem with the Alternative format. You sound like a father protecting his little boy, and yes I do work for the station, in case your interested.

What’s the agenda? The station doesn’t bill worth a lick. It hasn’t billed worth a lick since it launched. The other iHeart stations bill considerably better than it. Just the facts. No agenda other than pointing out facts. And I’m a huge Radio 104.5 fan, stream it all the time here in Ohio.

I actually like the station too so go figure. Save yourself the frustration and ignore that person. The cheese has definitely slipped off his cracker.

This will be my only response to his lunacy of the day.

How many handles is one person permitted to register?

In theory, one. When it becomes obvious that new handles are just masks for previously "uninvited" participants, they are suspended. Or when multiple handles become sock puppets for circular arguments or mutual admiration societies, the threads or posts are deleted.

It's like weeds in a lawn... a never-ending, ongoing battle.

Anyone have any idea how WISX is doing in the other demos? Are they one of the ones listed as "no idea?"

Does anyone have any idea about how WIOQ is doing in the upper demos? I'm in my early 50's and love streaming this radio station from here in the San Francisco Bay Area!
