SEPTEMBER PPMS: COX HAS 3 OF TOP 5 STATIONS

http://www.radio-info.com/markets/atlanta

Gospel WPZE (Radio One) takes a big jump up to #3. Why do their ratings seem to fluctuate so much?

Music changes at B-98 continue to pay off (they're #4, probably their highest in YEARS).

Star 94 took a big bite and a big drop. What happened there?

Fish is down and dry docked.

I know I've not been listening to Y-106 much lately......and their ratings drop mirrors that point.
(seems like usually something better is on 100.5, 97.1, 97.9 ...... Barry White and overplayed Fleetwood Mac can only go so far).

South 107 had a big jump, such as it was (0.1-0.5-0.9)...are they doing something to prepare for their power-up?

Do the WCNN numbers include 93.7?

What's up at Project?

Rock100.5 and River seem to be persisting in their "two men enter, only one man leaves" cage match. I'm still waiting for one of them to blink.

Fish just seems to be reverting to the mean...nothing to be alarmed over.

Well..........  ;D

But I agree. I don't see how Star would fall. I'd "predict" that it's just a fluke or off month and they'll bounce back. Actually, before I even say more, I should actually go click the link and see the ratings report. I may be back to say more shortly...

By the way, can someone explain whether AQH or cume is more important? I notice certain stations with a ratings drop but a higher cume.

Also; at what point does a station "decide to" flip formats based on their ratings, and what factors do they consider when it comes to overall ratings before deciding to make any format adjustments?

Example: Lets say Journey does exceptionally well. What is the highest possible rating they could achieve with their current signal strength, and what would be considered "good / great ratings" for them? And what would be considered "bad" for a station like Journey?

Lastly, how long do stations normally have to "prove themselves" under a steady format?

I'm surprised that WWVA/WWLG managed to build bigger cumes, yet placed a 2.6. Makes you want to scratch your head at this.

Each station's situation may be different, but usually, advertising revenue tells the tale. You don't necessarily have to have high ratings to get good sales. As you might know, we only see the general 12+ plus for ratings. However, ratings may be higher with a certain demographic. If a business feels they can reach that demographic, then they'll buy.

As far as proving yourself, I usually give a station six months to a year to see how well they will eventually do.
