September PPM's

"Super strange" is the phrase that popped into my head while looking over the September 6+ numbers.

WIP leapt from 7.1 to 8.5--the highest number I can remember seeing them at? OK, I don't know anything about sportsball games, so I figured it could be justifiable. BTW: Their stream gained only 0.2 for the same period.

But what explains the trajectory of 2nd place WMGK? (9.0 - 9.2 - 8.3 - 8.5 - 8.1 - 6.8)

WMMR, B101, and KYW are next on the list, and nothing looks off to me.

But what's the deal with 6th-place WDAS? The trajectory there is 6.5 - 6.5 - 5.7 - 5.5 - 6.0 - 4.7!

Have more Christian music lovers moved into the metro? Because I'm apparently expected to believe that K-Love gained almost a full share point compared to last month.

Power 99 has been incredibly stable (2.7 - 2.8 - 2.7 - 2.8 - 2.8) for most of the past half-year. In September, however, they jumped up to 3.4. Good for them, I guess.

If these numbers are to be believed, it appears that Alt 104.5 may be poised to drop below a 2-share in the coming months--not that it matters.

Funny. The Phillies are in the playoffs. I'm watching them right now playing the Dodgers. I said this last month. Who listens to the Phillies on WIP? Men. What do men also listen to on the radio? Rock music. When WIP goes up who do they take audience away from? Rock stations. Things will level out at some point.

What surprises me is how WXPN and WHYY are doing so well. What does K-Love have in common with those two stations? No commercials.

Same thing happens nearly every September. WMMR, WMGK, WIP and even WRFF share many listeners and during NFL season they're spending more time with WIP.

WIP's highest share in October 2024 with a 9.8 share for the broadcast signal and an additional 2.5 share for the stream during the last Phillies playoff run paired with the Eagles season.

Yes. People will put up with irritating beg-a-thons if it means no commercials the rest of the time.

It’s the closest 6+ WOGL and WBEN have been in a while, basically tied last month, but it seems like BEN-FM has solidly overtaken WOGL overall, which seems to have flatlined around a 3 share.

I wonder if WOGL’s demos have gotten any better for Audacy.
