September Ratings

For those that are saying the Urban format is slowly dying, The Box seems to be proving that thought wrong (6.3, 7.1, 7.5). Does this show proof that this format can still work in some places, after all? Could it also show that there is room for a 2nd Urban, if another company decided to try it out?

Also, while Hot is still up, KRBE seems to be having a downward trend (4.2, 3.6, 3.4). This is the first I've seen them that low. Anyone remember when was the last time KRBE had these numbers?

You could also argue there might also be room for competitors to KODA and KTBZ, as both those stations are right up there with KBXX in overall numbers.

Wonder which is doing the most damage to KRBE...KKHH or KHMX? There may be too many stations clustered in a roughly similar format.

While on the ratings subject...has KGLK really fallen that far? Not enough room for both them and KKRW in the market. Cox needs to move the playlist on KHPT up a decade to give greater musical separation from The Eagle...or perhaps go after KTBZ.

Don't know. I stopped listening to Houston radio.

Uh... then why are you here on the Houston radio message board?

KRBE had a 3.4 in the Holiday 2008 book, a 3.5 in Nov '08, and 3.6 in Aug '08.

Yeah, room for two 3.2 share radio stations (if split evenly) with a hard to sell format. Personally, I'd rather have a country or AC station here with a 2 share than an urban with a 4.

Im not from Houston but I have seen it didn't take Hot 95.7 long at all to top KRBE. It seems CBS's CHR has a better product over Cumulus's KRBE.

Hope that something may come up that will deem Houston radio listenable, and to complain about its current state ;D

I wish there were some way KSHN 99.9 could move its tower closer to Houston. That station is quite enjoyable at times.
