Seriously, Fox??? An edit on the movie Dodgeball

So I was watching Dodgeball on Fox 26 tonight and towards the end when the girl's girlfriend shows up, they freaking edit out their makeout scene! What the hell? Would this happen if there was two guys making out? I've seen plenty of that on TV. Plus on yesterday's Grey's Anatomy, there was two girls kissing. Why the riduclous edit?

Would they cut this out if two guys were making out? Yes, and it's more than likely that they would cut guys making out than girls. (Since, for no real reason, people get upset over guys making out but not girls... ???)

Why the ridcuious edit: 1. To cut time for commercials 2. If it was shown before 10pm, it wasn't in safe harbor...so more complaints could of been sent to the FCC.

Relax...if you want to watch the girls makeout, either watch the real movie on DVD, or buy a porn.

Some edits I remember for network TV:

"UH oh. Passed gas."
"Did you pass gas Raymond?"
"Yeah..."
--Rain Man (orig. was "fart")

CRONAUER (Robin Williams): "That man is in more real need of a real job than any
man in history." ("Real" was a substitute for...guess...)

--Good Morning Vietnam

But I also remember "bulls--t" was said when "Network" was aired, no edit.

More likely it was to shoehorn in more commercials, an all too common practice these days.

AMC has been know to air movies butchered so badly that it interfers with the plot. Unless you pay for HBO or Starz or Showtime, you are not going to see unedited commercial-free movies (save for TCM and certain PBS stations).

I can believe the commercial shoehorning. From watching a few TV shows online, the old rule of thumb for the actual runtime of a TV show (22 minutes for sitcoms, double that for dramas) has slowly become irrelevant. Shows are inching closer to a flat 20 minute/40 minute scheme. I know I watched three episodes of The Office on Hulu.com in just over an hour...and they only insert single 30 second ads between breaks.
