Seriously...No one's going to make ratings predictions this time?

The total AQH share for Urban formatted stations will increase.

No evidence will be given for any station to flip to an Alt-Rock format. And WIRED will take a dip.

It's do or die time for Q102, isn't it?

I predict Howard Stern will be number 1 in the morning.

1) Death of Y-100 = YSP re-enters the top 10
2) The CHR flight will start to bear itself out. One will have to go...
3) MMR returns to Top 10-ville, we see a new MMR vs YSP dogfight.
4) Ben starts to hurt MGK and slides to even lower than their rankings as Jammin Gold OR Mix/Max. Variety Hits in Philly starts to tank.
5) The Hawk makes inroads in Philly.
6) WRNB finally overtakes DAS-FM
7) I think this round will go to B as top dog overall...just a feelin'
8) No suprise hear if Power ranks #2
9) Lowest ranked station = (sorry to say it) WPEN. Maybe WNTP squeaks past them.
10) But WNTP still beats WHAT...proving that Air(head) America is a waste and was a bad move for 1340.
______________
FOX News Alert: YOU SUCK!!! Ya like apples?

I'll make one: Q solidly beats Wired.

Hip-hop has not had strong crossover product recently and if you look at the Spring ratings that have come out so far, the mainstream CHRs are becoming more competitive while the Rhythmics are slipping.

New York: Hot 97 down a half-share. Z100 even.
Los Angeles: Power 106 down a half-share. KIIS-FM even and #1 in the market.
Chicago: B96 down slightly. Kiss-FM up more than a half share.

WMMR will have it's strongest book in years if not decades.
YSP will think their tower fell down relative to WMMR.
WXTU will make a strong surge.
WIRED will be flat.
Q102 will be flat, but will still beat WIRED
Power99 will be up slightly.
WPHI will continue to be the lowest ranked FM station in the Philly Metro.
WPPZ will be the biggest "story" of this book.
WJJZ will continue the slide.
WBEN will have the best book for that signal since Jammin.
WSNI will be down a touch.
WRNB will beat WDAS in AM drive only.
B101 will remain the same.
WOGL will be up slightly.
WMGK will be down slightly.

This is merely speculation, please, no wagering.
Edited by Wexler on 07/20/05 11:46 AM.

Re: Here's what I think

I'm not anticipating anything odd with the possible exception of WPPZ. Maybe up a full point?

WJJZ, formerly one of my favorite stations, will probably continue to drop. It's just getting boring lately. The personality has been sucked out of the station and what's left isn't very good. And that night jock makes the station unlistenable. Everytime he starts yapping, it's time to change the station.

BEN-FM will probably be up a bit due to curiosity but I just really doubt it's going to make a splashy debut here as the format has in other markets. I'm not expecting anything outrageous there.

I want to say the Hawk might be up a tiny little bit but I also think WMGK could see an uptick. They may well cannibalize each other so I have no confidence in either of those predictions.

WDAS-FM will continue down but not a huge drop like last time. WRNB might still be on the way up but 12+, I'm thinking it'll be a slight bump.

WMMR should see an increase as the fallout from Y100's demise continues.

Otherwise, I think everything's gonna be mostly flat including KYW, B101, WOGL, Power 99, WYSP, WXTU, WIP, WPHT, Wired 96.5, Q102, Sunny 104.5, 100.3 The Beat, and WPEN. I see no reason to think any of them will be seeing any big ups or downs.
