Serius XM 2.0

SO I picked up an edge off of Ebay and have compared Serius 1.0 and XM 1.0 to the new 2.0 radio.
The audio qualety is simular to XM's qualety. I noticed that in the 2.0, there seems to be a higher frequency response, and the XM channels have less of a swishhy type sound.
The Serius 1.0 only advantage is that it has wider stereo seperation, but the sound qualety is simply horid.

I'll post some downloadable links of the audio from some stuff below.
All this is uncompressed 44.100 HZ PCM wave files.
File 1:
Unknown Song.wav (4.4 MB)

How about posting some of the XM "XTRA" channels - that you can't recieve on the regular XM radios except the two newest? I believe that those channel MAY sound better than the original batch?

I tried downloading the files but all I downloaded was some exe program I definitely will not run.

Can you post these somewhere where they give you the file and not an exe? :(

That's strange.
i did see the exe file come up too but i also saw a l downloadable link to the wav file come up as well.
Anyone have problems with my *.wav files?
Johnny, ti can give you the extra channels if you like, but sadly the qualety isn't what you may have heard.

I fond the wav links. I got distracted by the "Download" and "Play" buttons.

If anyone else has this problem the wav link it is on the initial page in a light blue box that says "Click here to start download from sendspace" where you can do the right-click thing.

BTW the track labeled Styx is actually Dan Fogelberg Same Old Lang Syne.

On behalf of Styx fans worldwide, thanks for the warning!

You're welcome, I just had Too Much Time On My Hands. ;D

We believe the Edge and Lynx currently receive most of their content from the existing XM network and that the only channels sent out with the new technology are the XTRA ones. Eventually, more will be sent out that way as the Sirius network is dismantled and then the XM network is dismantled. The new technology will be phased in over a couple years. XM 1.0 is scheduled to operate longer than Sirius 1.0 in order to support the expensive business receivers out there.

so we're going to need new receivrs for 2.0?

Yes, they use a newer encryption algorithm, but 1.0 channels will be around (XM platform) for several years to come.
The Edge and The Lynx are two of these 2.0 receivers.
Those with 1.0 receivers will be encouraged with special deals to upgrade, like prepay for three or six months and the hardware will be free.
Don't know what they have planned for lifetime subs as myself.

...but I plan to upgrade when my 1.0 unit dies.

I think I read in a press release that lifetime subscriptions will die along with the old service.
I think you mean they could charge lifers extra for the XTRA channels...if they want them.

I'm a lifetime subscriber, I guess lifetime doesn't mean for life to XM? My radio is a good one and integrated with my car and there is no way I will (or can) take it out and I plan on keeping this car for a long time.

XM did already die with the merger, so I guess you could say that lifetime is over for XM we once knew. When's the last time you heard "IT" broadcast?

I am going to keep using my lifetime subscription, my SKYfi2 receiver in my 2 pre wired vehicles and my two SKYfi2 boom boxes with the outside antenna and whole house amp for as long as I can...
