set up

Here's the set up. I have an AT3035 mic going into a dbx 286A. From there I go back to the 1/4 inch line in jack on the same channel I had the mic originally on an Alesis Multimix 12 USB. When I was running the AT3035 into the Alesis I could use the mute to kill the mic but it doesn't work now. First of all is this a workable combination? If not what would you suggest? I will be doing some shows distributed on CD and also a web stream in the future. I have StationPlaylist for that.
Thanks,
Ben

Benny...

Looking at the manual...Are you sure you don't have the ALT 3/4 to Mix pushed? When you press the 'Mute' button it dumps that input to the ALT 3/4 output. Also check the ALT 3/4 to the HDPH/CTRL RM switch...

OT...What sorta show will you be doing?

You're right it is the ALT 3/4. DUH Guess I better go back and spend some time with the manual. Is there any way to use that mute as a mic on/off? Do you have one like this? I love the FX although I will never use most of them.

You could use that as an on/off but after a very short time it will get tedious to nail that little button each time. A better option would be something like this: http://www.dmengineering.com/pages/micpro2.htm (if the Multimix has "inserts")

Thanks Rob. Not sure if it will work but will definitely be checking into it. Never had the cover off this Alesis but I bet there's a way to make it work.
