Clear Channel President & Chief Financial Officer Richard Bressler was the latest high ranking radio executive to take Pandora to task for the radio listening numbers its been boasting about. Earlier this week, Pandora announced it now owned 8% of all U.S. Radio listening. Bressler (pictured) said the entire online listening universe is only 8% and that includes iHeartRadio. "Pandorda is 4-5% of that." He added, "These guys are not radio. Not even close to being radio. We are real radio, with unique content and unique distribution platforms, local personalities and 20,000 local events. All of Pandora's stations combined have yet to penetrate the top ten in New York City." Bressler also said Clear Channel has not seen any impact from Pandora or iTunes radio on local sales"

Pandora does embellish a bit, but Clear Channel is full of crap. Pandora is significantly larger than 4-5% of the online radio market. Pandora can be radio or not. Doesn't matter. What does matter is the fact that they have over 70 million active users and streamed 1.47 billion hours of music in October.

If Pandora wants to show that the figures they use are right, let them release the numbers they give to the RIAA..

If Pandora paid fees based on the hours they tell everything they are streaming, they would shut their doors before the day is over,,,the figures they release are totally fake...I know how fake those numbers can be because I helped start the business of streaming radio stations on the internet,, you can make those numbers look however you want,,,what they release to the RIAA are real, and they have to attest that they are legitimate,,so let them release those numbers

Well I can't fault CC for defending their position and at the same time bolstering their iHeart brand after all iHeart only exists because they saw the writing on the wall, traditional radio's numbers are shrinking if they weren't you wouldn't be seeing wholesale layoffs all over the industry nationwide.

My whole purpose for creating iStreamRadio is to provide small net broadcasters with a platform they can participate in without having to fight traditional radio for listeners on services like iHeart, Tune-In, TuneGenie and other services that cater to the terrestrials.

They is a lot of quality radio on the Internet and despite what Richard Bressler says we are heading towards streaming world.....
