SETTING THE RECORD STRAIGHT!

I usually don't post on these BLOGS as I rarely even check this site, but, I see after me being gone for five months I can still cause controversy. First of all, for ten plus long years, I was 97X, I was it's face, the reason various owners over the years didn't flip the format to CLASSIC ROCK or even one owner thought COUNTRY. When Stylesmedia, Tom DiBacco & Kim Styles ran the entire cluster, the entire cluster of stations in Panama City and Dothan were run with "CLASS" and we had the tools and resources to be successful. When the unfortunate "TAKEOVER" that happened in the spring of 2006 happened, the entire cluster took a downward spiral. Unfortunately, I did too. I also felt like there were two up and coming talents to carry on what I started and what I LIVED, BLED, SWEATED, and LIVED for that was 97X. Those talents are STROKE and SHORTBUS. I am proud of these two and they are carrying on what 97X has been since in signed on in 1997. In the words of the father of 97X BEAVER STEVENS and DOM THEODORE, who created me as "YODA" in 1997, "ENTERTAINING & COMPELLING RADIO and playing the best NEW ROCK. Idiots who post crap about me [EDIT], can't even turn a radio on probally. See I don't have to hide under a stupid code name. I am "YODA". The same "YODA" who DOMINATED Panama City and Dothan for over TEN years. The same "YODA" who is beginning to dominate Albany, GA on ALBANY'S ROCK 103, a Cumulus radio station. I am proud to be a part of the Cumulus family here in Albany. I wonder who any of the other forementioned BOZO's are, I don't care. But I am not hiding and I am not my email either. And you know where I work.

As for FREAKFEST, I thought the concert was a good idea when the need to help pay for his medical bills was necessary. Freak and I were close. Back in 2003 and 2004, where you saw me you usually saw FREAK. It wasn't until 2005 when he started hanging around some "so-called" friends he had. These people were BLOOD SUCKING VAMPIRES. I just didn't want these type of TRASHY people showing up at our events and being on the air. Some of the same people are still using the poor guys name to promote their own stupid so-called promotion company I think it is called "LARGE and LOUD", run by this MAN-BEAST who has never seen a dentist named "DAWN"-key. This thing abused & still abuses poor FREAK's name and likeness. The poor guys is gone and "DAWN"-key still uses his name to promote her own so-called business. Those who know that I'm telling the truth.

I just wanted to set the record straight. Happy posting THANKS to all the attention I seem to have been getting. You can reach me at [email protected] or call me at ROCK 103 I am on middays, 10AM to 3PM.

YODA formerly of 97X & now ROCK103.

P.S. I am the one who had "DAWN"-key kicked off the MIDDLE OF NOWHERE on 97X.

[EDIT-inflammatory]

Aren't we a little full of ourself? This is supopse to impress all of us how????????????? :'(

Maybe we should call 97x....Yoda 97X. Since he made it, and made it what it is today. HA....Ha...

It's sad if someone claims to be the face of a station. So, who is the face of that station now? Stroke, Shortbus, Lex, or Terry.

I hope the current personalities on the X don't claim to be the face of the station.

how's that for setting the bar low?
Dothan?
Albany?

why not aim for the stars...say...Valdosta...or dare I say...Brunswick?

;D For the record, I Still own, Bunnell, Green Cove Springs, Waldo, Callahan, and of course "Palatca" Used to have quite a few "Listeners" captive at "Raiford"! BIG APE!

What Yoda (I can't remember the guy's real name) may learn from his experience is that radio "fame" is fleeting--for both personalities & stations--and that even at the height of our "fame" as personalities we rank somewhere below local TV anchors and somewhere above local lounge singers on the Fame Scale. With a little luck it allows us to be able to cash our paychecks at the Tom Thumb, score some occasional hallucigens, and maybe get laid from time to time.

97X began as a bad joke, with Howard Stern starring as The Huge Financial Drain... settled into a role as a middle-of-the-pack station... and really has never gotten past that point. But in Yoda's mind, it was--and he was--a legend.

God help us not to fall into the same trap ourselves.

My friend Jack, he's one hell of a friend
My friend Jack, be with me to the end
My friend Jack, always by my side
My friend Jack, he's one hell of a guy.

Remember that one?

How about these lyrics.....So True funny how it seems always in time but never in line for dreams....hmmmm.

Valdosta, yeah that's the ticket!

Yup, Valdosta is a damn Boom Town, ain't it?

To be fair, one thing I should add about the whole Local Fame thing is... if you're lucky & good--gotta have both--it's a great way to make a living.

Good luck, Yoda.

;D ;D Hahahah Valdosta! Maybe Yoda can get on with IMUS since he's going back to NYC...WWWWWWWW AAAAAAAA BBBBBB CCCCCCCCCC...Why do people take names off of movies for air names???

I thought 97 sounded best when they were running on 1kw. Was that when Yoga was there and at his best? ;D

Just when we thought the level of broadcasting couldn't get any lower... we have RI Love Lines going.

sounds the same to me. almost a carbon copy of tampa's 98 rock. (which doesn't come in up here that much anymore)

minus the sex doctor at night (dr. drew, i think)

though a rare catch up here, it's an interesting station that sounds like it's owned by a mom and pop.

As an old PD I can tell you I wouldn't hire that guy without heavy pressure from upper management and a promise that he'd get some help.
This is NOT my DH, CCENG, but yours truly JennyWoo.
Charlie would not only not hire him but probably physically toss him from the interview room. Or worse. Did you see the video of Danny Bonaduce and Johnny Fairplay on TMZ? Put Charlie in the Bonaduce role and I think you have it.
I just love that man ;D

I know all of the past/present 97X guys, and I have lots of love for them. But you're right...they're a middle of the pack station because nobody knows what to do to fix it. It's not well programmed, the jocks are not air-checked and coached, and i'ts all because nobody in the building knows how to program rock right. Let me tell ya, I would LOVE to go in there and fix it as I've got a proven track record in programming and a love for rock radio. But, that's never going to happen as long as clusters have a Director of Programming to oversee the whole thing, even though the ones they hire don't know or are not familiar with the formats!

No sir, not Yoda. And for track record, without giving away my identity, I was the APD/MD of one of the stations in PC, and because the PD was always so busy, I was the one that did the music research, played selector whore, talent scheduling, log merge/edit, coaching, blah blah blah...PD handled promotions. Our station was top 3 for five straight years, and made it tied for #1 12+ in Spring of '05 before I had to quit radio. I take full credit for it as I went through 4 different PDs during the time that I was APD/MD. To keep the station that competitive with all the regime changes is accomplishing something! If you'd like to give me your email, I'll let ya know who I am. Giving mine out on here would give away my name, and I really don't want to appear like I'm buring bridges with my old company, since I didn't when I left.
