Several Upgrading stations near Fort Worth

There are several nonproffit classic hits and classic country stations upgrading in a remote area of Texas near Fort Worth. Lots of small towns around the area though.
There are 2 formats as of right now, one classic hits and one classic country. They're known as Chuck FM and Pure Country respectively.
Here's Chuck FM's stream: CHUCKFM
Here's Pure Country's: QXFM

Chuck FM 89.9 KQXB Breckenridge upgrading to 80000 watts. https://fccdata.org/?facid=&call=kq...=&lmspl=&party_type=LICEN&latd=&lond=&lang=en
Pure Country KYQX 89.3 Mineral Wells upgrading to 8500 watts. https://fccdata.org/?facid=&call=ky...=&lmspl=&party_type=LICEN&latd=&lond=&lang=en
Pure Country KEQX 89.5 Stephenville upgrading to 20000 watts. https://fccdata.org/?facid=&call=ke...=&lmspl=&party_type=LICEN&latd=&lond=&lang=en
Pure Country KQXE 91.1 Eastland upgrading to 100,000 watts. https://fccdata.org/?facid=&call=kq...=&lmspl=&party_type=LICEN&latd=&lond=&lang=en
The only full power of theirs which isn't upgrading is Chuck FM KMQX 88.5 Weatherford. https://fccdata.org/?facid=&call=km...=&lmspl=&party_type=LICEN&latd=&lond=&lang=en

KYQX and now KEQX have both been approved by the FCC. The others may take a while as they're huge upgrades.

KQXE and KQXB have been approved to upgrade. However, KQXE and KQXB are now off-air...

"THE LICENSEE CONFIRMS THE TRANSMISSION LINE WAS SORELY DAMAGED FROM A LIGHTNING STRIKE DURING A THUNDERSTORM ON 120121. THE TRANSMISSION LINE WILL NEED REPLACEMENT OR REPAIR. THE LICENSEE IS HAVING TROUBLE FINDING A LOCAL COMPANY TO DO THIS WORK FOR THEM."

Hopefully they can find a tower rigger or local company to help out. A transmittion line isn't that expensive right? I'm sure a tower person might be reading these forums or someone who knows someone in the tower industry. Heck, maybe if they get lucky they can find someone to build out their new upgraded signals instead of fixing their current ones, LOL.

Anyone know if these two (KQXB and KQXE) are getting repaired or built out soon? They sure were lucky to get those upgrades before the channels were gobbled up in the filing window. I feel sorry for them as I heard a few years back they had an engineer steal some equipment and run off.

I was listening to Pure Country's stream a few minutes ago and they are promoting the website for it on the air. WeArePureCountry.com

Not sure if Chuck FM will continue as their KMQX is being sold. They're based in KMQX's coverage area as far as I know, unless they keep Chuck FM's adult hits format on their Breckenridge FM when they get it back on-air.

No, it is not expensive. It is VERY expensive. For any significant power, you need rigid line. Low power can use cables like heliax, but when you get to any significant power level you have to go to rigid line which is solid copper on the inside and outside and generally pressurized.

Here is a link to a catalog showing the types of rigid line. Higher the power, bigger the diameter.

A link to components with prices for 3 1/8 inch line:

First one has to see how the obviously increased transmission line diameter will affect weight and wind loading on the tower. It's likely that such a power increase will require a new antenna, as transmission antennas come in different power handling levels with ever-greater cost. It is unlikely that the current antenna was bought with a huge power increase in mind. And the "better" antenna will likely increase the weight on the tower, too.

From Facebook:
"We've received a ton of calls and messages about 88.5 FM being down...thank you for being loyal listeners! 88.5 will be down for a while, so listen on the Chuck FM app and 102.5 FM. Thank you again!"

Apparently they can operate 102.5 until 88.5 comes back up! Good for them. At least it's a community station not something less important. :) Apparently rules don't apply here and why should they? People in other areas do it all the time with standalone translators. Look at Houston!

Not sure why this forum shows Spanish Facebook instead of the post.

you say some of the silliest things without ever bothering to check facts... 102.5 is listed as a relay of another station, not 88.5 so thats how they can keep it on.

102.5 is, according to FCC, rebroadcasting 89.3, which did not have HD last I heard it... In 2018 KYQX was Pure Country, and Pure Country had KYQX in their ID.

Whatever I'm not an FCC agent, don't care--not in area.

So? only about half of that made any sense.. but maybe they changed the programming on KYQX.

THeres alot you dont know, are assuming.. and probably getting wrong here

Fair enough. Now I can see the logic of only filing a move on paper if multiple will take place. Not actually building it saves the money+crew's time. Once a station or translator is ready to get on, then they can build.

From Chuck FM Morning Show's Facebook page, which has been renamed...
"...
The bad news is, as of June 1st, the Chuck FM Morning Show is no more. It’s been a great ride, and we want to thank the Beard family and all of our sponsors and listeners.
The good news…we are coming back soon! We are building a brand new community radio station. We will be back on a much stronger 88.5 FM (in stereo!), 102.5 FM, and a brand new app and website.
..."

Up until now 88.5 always had a mono transmitter every time I heard it. Now it is apparently down and upgrading. All the Beard family's signals have upgrades with the FCC. Not 88.5 which is now owned by Weatherford College... But I'm sure the college is planning one.

Weatherford College now has control of KMQX and it's translator on 102.5. New station is up called "The Coyote" without the E pronounced. Seems to be a variety format similar to the previous "Chuck FM".

As for KQXB and KQXE they're apparently back on too now with "Chuck FM" and "Pure Country".
