Tom Baker banished Severin to a puny AM signal. Who's talking now?

Baker banished him to Clear Channel. I happen to like Greater Media as a company, I am not so thrilled with CC, but if you can hitch your star to a company, CC isn't a bad career move, and it certainly beats being on the beach or having to pull up stakes and move your tent to some other city.

After leaving RKO he dubbed them Fart Radio.

XKS was running promos saying that things like DH Lawrence and Christmas were banned in Boston, but Jay S. no longer is.
XKS's recep can be good in some ways--daytime, in cars...

Howie referred to 96.9 as "WTKKK" when they had the Imus-Rutgers flap. A few months
later he tried to get hired there! (2007)

One more from Jay (will they allow him to do his show from his nice home in Manchester-by-the-Money?): >>B+B: Do consider how stations value Your I.Q. by hosts offered all day long: Katz, Beck, Rush, Me/You, Sean v.'GOOD DAY, DAYTON!"No Contest

(B+B of course = best and brightest, not bed and breakfast)

Wow. What a class act.

Not.

.... And Clear Channel must be just kicking themselves for making such an ill-informed decision...
If only they knew about Jay's ego, and anger... lol

Jerry Williams is dead, and so is his class act.

Severin always seemed to me to be someone with a bad case of arrested development. He behaves like a temperamental fourteen year old.

I'm simply amazed that anyone would hire him. He's not particularly talented, doesn't know when to restrain himself and throws hissy fits when things don't go his way.

Boston deserves so much better than this clown and the current crop of talk show hosts that have been inflicted on us. Is there truly this much lack of talent out there or is it just the case that the program directors are too insecure to take a chance with someone new?

+1

I split my time between NJ and Boston, and I must say that all the whining about Severin and how "Boston deserves better" is truly amusing. At least Boston HAS not one, but two LOCAL talk stations and one semi-local station (1200). Sheesh. In NYC it's damn near impossible to find a local talk show anywhere. WABC has 2 hours of local talk in the mid-morning. WOR has Joan Hamburg talking about what she ate for dinner, what dumb Broadway show she saw and what her farts smell like from the dinner she ate last night. John Gambling is local in the AM on WOR. That's it. It's nice to hear some local hosts battle it out like the good ole days, and even if he is on a lesser AM signal, it will be interesting when he goes after Howie and whoever the heck is on RKO now.

I enjoy hearing about the topics on hand in the area, and how they affect Boston. In NYC all I get to hear is Sean Vannity yap to people with accents that sound like "Yer a graight Amurican, Shaawwnnn" all friggin afternoon.

You refer to WRKO, WTKK, and WXKS (now with 2 local shows) but don't forget WBZ (Rea, Leveille, Rich) and, on the left there's Jeff Santos on WWZN...and also we have some shows like Rooney and Crossley on WGBH too

See my other post on the Boston board about why 96.9 should become all news all the time. WBZ is a joke when you need a traffic report at 9pm. Too much yakking, not enough news. I can't believe Boston doesn't have one 24/7 all news station.

Isn't Curtis Slewa still down there at Salem's 970...I believe the calls are WNYM?

Should someone from Joisey really be making fun of regional accents?

Contrary to popular belief, nobody from Jersey actually says "Joisey". Only people not from NJ say it, just like only people from outside of Boston refer to it as "Bean Town".

On the flipside, can anyone from Boston have a comment about regional accents either?

Either way, caller after caller with southern accents doesn't play too well in the Northeast.

Have you ever heard some of the callers to C-Span's 7:00 am until 10:00 am interview show (except when pre-empted by events)? Often the host and the guest look at each other to see if either has been able to understand the caller. I'm not talking about fuuriners; these are Amuuricans.

I'm sure our voices sound as weird to people from other parts of the country as theirs do to us. At my cartoon convention in Pittsburgh (and yinz know when ya go to a dahntahn bar to watch the Stillers game on TV an' at you can drink an Ahrn City) I found I sometimes had a tough time
hearing what some people said, especially from the Deep South. When I drove through
Delaware recently, there was a TIS with construction updates and some of the accents were tough to figure out. One of my previous roommates at the cartoon convention was from
Delware and I had the same problem--a cross between a Bal'mer accent and southern/
Virginia?
