Severin: truth stretching on air?

Have been listening to new Jay Severin show. It can be entertaining, yes, but
the questions about the "fake Pulitzer", etc., still linger.

1) Via http://www.jayseverin.org (a Severin watchdog site), go to "Jay's
Pulitzer" for a transcript of a call Jay took on air the other day. He mentioned
that the Globe had to print a retraction...but failed to say that the retraction
was in regards to Jay's Muslim comments, NOT one of the "fake Pulitzer" claim!

2) A caller tonight asked him how his lovely wife Renee was doing. Jay
accused the caller of "making a name up out of thin air". Now, Jay's personal
life in some ways can be seen as his own business but then again he is a public
figure (and fodder for gossip columnists, etc.) The guy paints himself on
air as a young (not so), swingin' single (not so). Oh well, is he fake?
Is he entertaining? Both.

Do I have anything against him? No, but it's fun to talk about this stuff.
Again, the show can be good at times, and if he turns out to get more
listeners than Rush, more power to him. But figured I'd mention these...
Jay Severin: Best Actor. (And note that I'm not personally attacking him,
just offering my opinion of a couple things he said on air.)

> NOT one of the "fake Pulitzer" claim!

True, he basically changed the subject.

> The guy paints himself on air as a young (not so),
> swingin' single (not so).

In defense of flattop, he's never said that he's single. Whenever I've heard someone ask about his family, he always says that he doesn't talk about it on the air. I can't say I blame him. He's obviously married with children but carries on like he's hooking up with these twenty-something broads at the remote appearances. That gives me a good laugh. He is also a strong advocate for punishing anyone who hurts children (as should every sane person) as though he had them, but has said "if I ever have children" before.

One thing I've noticed is that he gets more confrontational callers than before (better radio?) but he doesn't get as angry with them as he used to.

I like the fact that Jay doesn't talk about his family, because no disrespect to Jay, but I don't care about his family. I listen to Jay because he is knowledgeable on politics, (although we may disagree on a lot), and thats all I want to hear about. If I want a show about family I'll turn on lifetime or something.

Yeah, maybe you're right, in which case he should just say on air
"well, I don't discuss my personal life" and leave it at that. Though
he does mention the Newfies (and his bio does, too.)
Others, like Howie and Laura I., do mention their personal lives. Jay doesn't have to. However making false
claims about having a Pulitzer and taking on politicians who
might do the same, well... to bring up the title of a Billy Joel
album, people who live in "Glass Houses" shouldn't throw stones!

Yes that would be nice,no more touting Himself as a Stud-Muffin.

let's not forget countertop-gate

I still want to know if the Boston-based countertop company will drive to Long Island for any customer wo calls them. Jay is still saying how they came to him and he lives in Sag Harbor, NY!

Ha! Or maybe they're part of a chain, and they have a store on Long Island.
A quick web search turned up "Counter Top Shop"s in Ohio, California, etc.
countertopshop.net says a company by that name has a showroom in
Mansfield...Ohio...

It's tiring. I knew this would happen once he came back on the air. He portrays himself as some young bachelor. And I'll never forget how this phoney pretended to be from Massachusetts the whole time he was broadcasting from Lawng Guiland.
