Severin = WW1 cleaning house?

With Infinity's new favorite child being Jay Severin, who is placing him on stations where he doesn't really belong (WJFK/DC, rumored WKRK/Detroit), could this mean curtains for current WW1 talker Lars Larson (7-10PM ET), who has never really generated any excitement outside of Oregon and who is basically dead weight for the network? He's not, AFAIK, on any Infinity stations, as flagship KXL/Portland and next-best affiliate KSL/SLC are owned by private firms.

From a few talk programmers I've spoken with, WW1 has always pushed other shows over Lars'. The show seems weak to me, and combined with the fact that Severin will clear in early evenings on 'JFK and presumably a couple others, they might as well not "compete" with themselves, no?

Good question.

Didn't Larson just re-up with WW1, like a couple of months or so ago?

I'm not all that excited about his show, frankly. It airs weekend evenings (only) here on Akron's WNIR, which runs no syndicated programs during the weekday hours (5:30A-11P local) or Saturday days (6A-7P now local). He sounds like yet another local "name" host to me.

I get the idea that he only has the gig because WW1 lost Laura Ingraham to TRN, and needed someone to take the slot, and he was filling in for her.

The other question - will Severin's show be 7-10 PM ET? We don't know that yet, though it would seem to make sense...I don't know if Infinity would put him up against Hannity, for example, even though that has been his slot on 96.9 in Boston...

True, but if he's only going to be on Infinity stations, they might as well put the better show on in PMD eastern time. Put your own guy on in the better slots and have Hannity on, a la WTKK, after the TV show from 10p-1am to build late night audience. Now, if they plan on a national rollout to rival Hannity and such, that would be a different story. Although the only other competition in the demos would be Medved, who's a bit weak for my tastes with the SRN stigma, and Dr. Laura, who's lifestyle brand of show has been losing on newstalkers.

Larsen is resigned for multiple years according to westwoodone.com . Severin is not WW1 move....Infinity.
