Severino re-emergence poll

Let's get a show of hands, your OPINION. Jimmy "Jay Severin" Severino will re-appear on WTKK:

a) he'll show up at that Night of All Stars (why, look who just dropped in!) on Saturday, and will be back on air next Monday

b) He'll be back by Thanksgiving

c) He'll be back by early Dec. for one day, then take another 3-4 weeks off
for Christmas/holiday break

d) He will never grace the 96.9 airwaves again, instead appearing on
WBZ starting in January, at least when he's not pre-empted by the B's

My vote is d but I could be wrong. Other theories welcome too.

I vote D.

I think his new show will be on WBZ

Re: Jay Severin re-emergence poll

I vote "None Of The Above".

Until we know the time of day (or night) Jay Severin's nationally-syndicated show will be broadcast, I don't think we'll know for sure what will happen.

If Severin's show is during the evenings or overnights, it will be on WBZ-1030.

But if it's during daytime hours, I think WTKK-96.9 will indeed broadcast the show......unless Infinity launches a "Free FM" station here in Boston, in which case, he may end-up there.

In either event, Jay Severin won't be back on the radio until January.

Evenings, already announced.

Severino vs Paul Sullivan

I think you guys underestimate Paul Sullivan. He's been there for 6 years, and they're supposed to bump him for newcomer Severino? Maybe Severino (taped) will air on the later shift, just like Hannity. Just because he was big at "nine-tee-six-nine" doesn't mean he will get top billing at WBZ. I think the fact that they omitted him from the big WTKK night (w/ Ingraham, Hannity, O'Reilly, Imus, etc) says a lot.

OVERNIGHTS? dont you ever read ANYTHING? dont you ever think before you post rather than just talking for the sake of talking?. The man moves from Afternoons in Boston to overnights in syndication so he can not be heard in the middle of the night in St. Louis? are you really that lost? Sometimes I dont even want to flame you7 but your posts are almost always so far out in left field and tethered to fact almost NEVER.

I vote "D"

only 2 days left before mr g's annual all-christmas rant. the anticipation
is building. sources close to mr g claim they saw his 2005 all-christmas
manifesto and it's a safe bet that wfnx will switch to all-christmas
format on or around november 12 and become...gasp!...spanish liberal
talk on or around december 26.

Hannity is the replacement.

Hannity is the replacement, and the Fall book is his test in this market. If I were running WTKK I'd be more concerned with who to replace Imus with. Infinity may keep Oldies 103 as is to keep a steady flow of cash from the Boston market during it's spinoff from Viacom; primarily since Jack is faltering in NYC. "Hey, look, we took a bad idea in NYC and tried it in Boston against another Jack station!"

I see WTKK as (Dream Case):
Scotto Mornings (how long is his contract and will he want to stay @ WRKO with the new morning news format?)
The SEBway with him staying on with Eagan and Braude for an hour,
Eagan and Braude
O'Reilly
Hannity
Severn at Seven
Laura Ingraham
John and Jeff

If Severn does not return, "Live and Local @ Night" is prefered, or maybe just keep the Hannity replay, depending on the Fall Book. Live night shows can and do get loyal followings; not everyone works 8-5.

If no Scotto, there's got to be someone who can work mornings for less than Imus.

Re: Jay Severin re-emergence poll

There's still a (...slight?) possibility that the show will be a daytime (maybe 3-6 pm)
show, with stations picking it up on tape delay...the actual time slot
has yet to be announced. WPHT "cleared the 7-10 pm
slot" but who knows, maybe it'll be on earlier and they'll air it on delay.
Personally I think Infinity would have a tough time going head-to-head with
either Hannity or Rush...

Not sure at this point if there would be a free FM, unless Infinity wanted
to junk WZLX and keep WBCN or vice-versa. Somehow I don't think that will
happen. They won't get rid of oldies on 103 either, not unless ratings consistently go into freefall. They seem to be doing well though

Re: Jay Severin re-emergence poll

'FNX Christmas--with who, Maria Lopez as host? :)

Prediction: St Nick 93.7. He plays everything Christmas, ho ho ho.
(Well, maybe I'm way off but who knows!)_

Might they do Sullivan 8-10, Severin 10-mid...?
Bumping an established voice for a newcomer...remember when 'BZ decided
Tom Synder was better than Brudnoy?

What happens 6-7? And why not Ingraham earlier in the day, or live, rather than half a day old? Especially seeing that it's Barnicle and E&B in her slot? Or Glenn Beck?

I do like John & Jeff at night seeing that they're on FM. It's a lot better for the people up at 3am than the rest of the rubbish stations put up against Coast.

Re: Hannity is the replacement.

Here's a better idea for TKK...

Give Jim Braude and Margery Egan a shot at mornings. They can't be any worse than the current RKO show and with a little guidence, they could be better than any of the guy/girl AM Drive talk shows before them (think Ted O'Brien/Janet Jeghalian or even Claprood and Whitley). Let them go from 6-9.

Keep Barnicle there 9 - noon, let the Radio Factor go straight up against the first two hours of Limbaugh and make a play for Howie Carr to move to the FM band where he can at least attract someone under the age of 55.

After 7 PM keep it cheap and syndicated. Hannity 7-10 and Ingraham 10-Mid is fine.

I would tend to disagree. Cheap is fine, but on the FM band with plenty of audience, I think you could be local 7-10 and get a good audience. Here on KFYI/Phoenix, our local 7-10 show kept going up in the ratings until the PMD team exited and the evening host moved up. Nevertheless, find someone entertaining and talented to go up against Savage (something with a little more levity, perhaps), because Laura Ingraham on half-day delay doesn't float my boat personally. Hannity works fine 10-1.
