Thank goodness. Her voice is really annoying. Hopefully she's filling an "off-air" position now.

Sexy Savannah's send-off

After a decade as the drawling, often puzzled -- but always outspoken -- proverbial blonde on 104.1 FM, Sexy Savannah has left the building.

Following Monday's stint on The Shannon Burke Show, Savannah said she was told that WTKS was letting her go.

Chemistry on the new show was at the heart of the decision, she said, stressing that she has no hard feelings.

"I had a great time there," she said Monday night. "I feel fortunate to have worked with everyone at the station, and I wish them all well."

Through the years, Savannah made more headlines than the average local radio personality. Once, Orlando's City Council got involved in debate over whether a poster that featured her in a bikini was too "inappropriate" to hang in a towing shop with a city contract. More recently, a man accused of stalking her wound up in court, charging at the judge presiding over his case.

Savannah, who jumped to Shannon Burke's midday show last year after establishing herself with the station's Monsters, said she already has new-job talks slated for today.

Until she re-emerges on the local airwaves, presuming she does, Savannah can be found at myspace.com/thesexysavannah.

Re: sexy Savannah out...details from Sentinel

not surprised. WTKS needs to trim down where ever they can. they did Savannah a favor. she is not what she seems on the surface. she is very intelligent, although vulnerable. i wouldn't be surprised if she shows up elsewhere in the clear channel stable. there are plenty of other stations outside of CC that would be willing to snatch her up as well. however, i know her aspirations have been towards more than just a radio career. if she is to realize her dreams... it is now or never.

Nope. And as a bit player, her career may be over, sad to say. Those gigs don't travel well.
______________

Re: sexy Savannah out...details from Sentinel

I wouldn't be surprised if she shows up at O-Rock
with Drew and Mel. She and Drew have always been
pretty tight.

Like another poster mentioned, her voice irritated me until I got used to it. I thought she was entertaining to listen to whenever I peeped out the show while I live in Orlando and I wish Savannah well.

I hope she owns the name "Sexy Savannah" and doesn't run into any legal issues if she continues to use that name.
______________

Re: sexy Savannah out...details from Sentinel

Lets be COMPLETELY honest here, ok...

IF, and i say IF lightly, she lands anywhere else in town, it would be at OCL...besides her being close with Drew, they are the only station right now that is doing ANYTHING they can for attention...ANYTHING!!!...

After that...i would say her radio career is probably behind her...she is not strong enough to be a host of talk show, and i dont know about you, but ive never heard her announce a single song, ever...soooooo...i dont see her on music radio...

sometimes wishing well to someone is a nice way to say...

"hey...you gave it your best, and you had some fun...now move along and let someone else have a shot..."

it has to start somewhere.

announcing a song? thats not a career, that's a minimum wage job for weekenders in small markets. as for being the host of a talk show... is that all that is available to people seeking an on-air position in radio, talk host or song announcer? Savannah is a character. larry the cable guy never hosted a radio show either. doesn't seem to have ended his career.

I beg your pardon, personality between songs happens to be why we are all reading this board..don't knock the jock that plays the hits..talk radio is a part of our industry-not all of it. I happen to be one of those pitiful weekend jocks that makes a good wage in a top 40 market working with fantastic, talented people. Your career is what you make of it..our industry has a lot of opportunities..

Props to you, Heather. Your post is a shining example of professionalism and passion, while others choose to expose their bitter ignorance. Quality jocks are a dying breed, but there are still enough out there that make a living being as creative as humanly possible. I don't know too much about your pal Savannah, but everything I heard from her led me to believe she's a genius. A crazy genius, but a funny one for certain. I think she'd fit right in with the crowd of talented individuals at WOCL. They really seem to have picked up momentum and the Monsters sure have lost a lot since Russ bullied her off the show. It'll be interesting to see the next four books or so.

Thanks! My best to you-heather

Re: sexy Savannah out...details from Sentinel

please re-read my post. i was responding to the comment that the previous poster made:

"i've never heard her announce a single song"

i guess the meaning of my response eluded you. to position what music radio personalities do as "announce a song" is a pretty sorry interpretation. I was not disparaging the talent of those who are truly radio entertainers ... regardless of whether they do it in music or talk radio. my point is this, if you "announce a song" as opposed to "entertain" chances are, you're making minimum wage on the weekend in a small market somewhere. if the shoe doesn't fit, its not about you!
