SF Chronicle Layoffs + Radio Waves

I heard the THE SAN FRANCISCO CHRONICLE is laying off several employees. Hopefully, Ben Fong-Torres won't get layed off as I really enjoy his Radio Waves column.

Agreed. BFT is a good guy, and he loves radio. I have a feeling that he writes the column because he wants to - I doubt Hearst pays him much for the column, and he's probably not a regular Chronicle employee - just an independent contractor who supplies 2 columns a month. So if they won't save much money by dropping the column, they probably keep it.

I hope he continues the column because he does truly love radio.
