Shades of WLNE: WGME replaces "Entertainment Tonight" with a bra infomercial

Shades of WLNE: WGME replaces "Entertainment Tonight" with a bra infomercial

A Genie Bra/Jack LaLanne's Power Juicer Express (make your own jokes) split infomercial replaced ET on Sinclair's Portland, ME CBS affiliate Friday night. No on-air explanation (apart from the usual stock infomercial disclaimer) whatsoever. Revenue enhancement, or severe thunderstorm related? No explanation on Facebook, either...

Sure says a lot about the appeal and viability of ET, Best of Judge Judy and Dr. Phil replays.

Simple, some infomercial distributer walked up and said "shut up and take my money!" They don't get paid for ET, they do for infomercials. Most stations will do this occasionally, balancing viewer outrage with the nice check they get.

Re: Shades of WLNE: WGME replaces "Entertainment Tonight" with a bra infomercial

Back in the late 90's (the Karmazin regime), New York's WCBS-TV - a CBS O&O, mind you - caught flak for pre-empting shows like "ET" in the prime access hour for infomercial fare. I recall they were of the "Time Life Records" variety, not so much the "Wonder-Bra" kind.

I'd much prefer watching a bra infomercial than ET, Best of Judge Judy or a Dr. Phil replay.

bunch of boobs over at WGME.

Don't get me started . . . even WBZ Radio is devoting part of its weekend schedule to infomercials. CBS must be pretty desperate.
