Shadow Traffic's 30th Anniversary

December 3, 1979 marked the start of Shadow Traffic's operation in the New York/New Jersey market. Shadow was based in a nondescript office building along Route 22 Union and served most of the stations in the northern and central part of the state. Most have changed format or gone dark since that start.

Among the original group of reporters were Fred Feldman, Donna Fiducia, George (G.W.) Forman, Susan Murphy, Joe Nolan and myself.

At the start the reports aired only during drive-time Monday through Friday.

Congratulations to all the members of the Shadow team who have passed through the doors over the years. Unfortunately over the last year or so the product doesn't seem to be of the same caliber that it previously was which I correlate to the fact that a few thousand were let-go company-wide. Perhaps if they brought back more of the Veterans that they dismissed, their product would once again live up to its previous standards/expectations. You simply cannot expect so much from so little...

Nice article in the Daily News on Joe Nolan too on Wednesday!! Getting up at 2:45 is nearly impoosible so he must thoroughly enjoy his duties and I'm sure they make it worth his while financially!!

:)
