Shakira on WLTW

I didn't believe it when I had the stream on but 106.7 Lite FM played "Hips Don't Lie" by Shakira. They sure like to shake it up a lot at WLTW don't they. Next song to show up on WLTW "Promiscuous" by Nelly Furtado feat. Timberland.

Note: CC Streams add Music over some of their commercials I think that was the Case. Did that actually show on their recently Played list? ALL CC Stations have this list on the right side of their main page.

This is Posted on their Streaming Page

"During the broadcast, you may notice periods of intermittent interruptions silence or "Jazz Music". This is normal. We have to cover some local on-air commercials. Most of the time, you will hear a special Lite fm Artist spotlight with part of a new song. You may even here some specal commercials that are only on Lite's Listen Live."

They must have been Streaming for a while MOST CC Streaming Stations using the new system have this listed:

Question: Why do I hear different commercials, public service announcements and music when you're regular playing commercials over the actual airwaves?
Answer: Contracts with certain voice-over actors/talent and commercial production agencies prohibit us from carrying our normal over-the-air commercials. Most of these are extracted from the stream. We then insert specials ads into the stream so you don't hear dead air for minutes at a time. We play free public service announcements as way of helping non-profit and community groups get their messages out. We sometimes play some music, because… well, we're radio – and we like music.

Nelly Furtado Promiscous is a Song that can Play on almost ANY format it may be a Stretch for Lite FM but possible to make it there. Hey they Play Queen and that is not "Lite" music either. But when you are #1 you can basically do what you want and be the True Jack and Play what you want.

It would not suprise me if they indeed played that song on the air. It has been brought up before. Considering they have no real competition, WLTW can deviate from their A/C format as much as they like.

No it wasn't music that was just played on the stream. It was heard on 106.7 Lite FM the DJ even said the name of the song after it was over. The name of the song was also on yes.com and wltw.com

This shouldn't come as a shock, they've played other songs by artists like Shakira, Christina Aguliera, etc., in the past, as well as Green Day, Coldplay, etc. They've also added a lot of classic dance of the type you would hear on Mix 102.7 or KTU (Donna Summer, Bee Gees, etc.) and even some songs such as "More than a feeling" by Boston.
