Shamrock 107.9

Someone visiting the area for St. Paty's told me a station is doing all Irish music. What's the deal?

um (yawn) the city on that would be Hilton Head, SC.....Savannah folk don't even know the station exists....pretty much a non-factor .....

What a strange idea indeed. Is this a stunt? New format come Monday? If not, this is one heckuva way to drive listeners to 98.7.

Before imploding 107.9 with a stunt like this, I would have fixed 103.1..or 98.3!

Rumor has it that they will be going after another CC audience

If correct, that would make sense....that is, if they target 97.3.

Are you kidding? Do you remember the feeble attempts by Cumulus with WZAT?? Nothing worked.

I'm not sure why this station is even bothering to cross the state line. It has NEVER made any noise in Savannah and yet the Triad/Adventure boys continue to force feed this one as well as all their Hilton Head stations toward a larger market, yes, but still these stations are SC stations. This latest change for "Coast" means they are abandoning the HH audience totally.....in search of a young audience in Savannah?? Are they crazy or what?? A stroll through the radio station graveyard in Savannah reveals a fresh mound of dirt right over there under that tree.....let's go see who was buried there. Ah, it's the former WZAT, Z102, Mix 102, etc etc. The new station hasn't got a prayer. 102 is thought of in Savannah as a LOCAL frequency. 107.9 will have to first off introduce Savannah to the fact theres even a station on that frequency. Assuming they have the money and time to pull that off (ha) then they must plan to wedge between a very pop, safe KISS station and the mainstream River, the perennial AC leader in both HH and Savannah. If Cumulus can't make that wedge work on a LOCAL signal, why in the world does Triad think they can? Stange. They should've fixed what they had and challenged River with a softer mix and positioning. Oh well. Let's leave the cemetery now....its getting crowded in here.....

They're throwing in the towel vs. River as it is. I highly doubt they'd try urban in this over-urbaned market. I'm not sure how they'll fare against 97.3, but if they could copy what they did with co-owned B-92 (formerly) in Charleston, it could work.

Then it's decision time. Country clearly isn't cutting it on 106.9. So what do you do? Develop your CHR & move it, or move their only ratings winner in Rock 106.1 to 106.9? Adventure won't compete fully in Savannah until their best product gets the best frequency.
