Shannon Burke Requests End To Probation

Give him a break and let him say uncle. Christ, From top-rated station to the butt of jokes (more than a few here). If they let him leave town he can try and reinvent himself in a new line of work. He's tried to make it but hasn't been able to get beyond an unrated AM station (and isn't his show brokered?). i4 is littered with Orlando talent from Doc Holliday to Dave Collins to Sav - jocks who can't find decent work, and they don't have rap sheets or ruined reputations (but probably not degrees either).

Speaking of Shannon I tuned into his show today around 5pm and they were playing the the Jerry Doyle show which is on at 10 pm. Just checked the Big 810 website for Shannon's show and the link to his show is gone. Thoughts?

He's still on the schedule on the website.

Absolutely he should be granted this request! He has paid his debt in jail and has been living without violence and breaking of the law since. So as far as I'm concerned the criminal justice system is done with him!

And Rastro....we can do without your exclamations regarding who keeps your heart beating and who will determine where you will be one second after your heart stops...Jesus Christ of Nazareth!
Beyond that, I enjoy your insight.

@Mel1 : Shannon's link was never gone from the website. He takes every third Thursday off to do I/O radio in Tampa and has been for months. His fill-in host for this past Thursday cancelled at the last minute, hence Doyle.

@rastro: In fact, Burke's 3p-5p hours are tied for 5th place 12+ in the Orlando market on WEUS. Interestingly, WEUS, from 6a - midnight, isn't lower than tied for 11th place 12+. Alex Jones' first hour is the second highest rated hour in Orlando 12+ and his second hour is number one 12+. The Don Miller Show from 6p-7p is 7th 12+. Not too shabby.

Wow ... tied for 5th in prime drive time, but the station overall is the lowest rated Orlando based station in the market, followed only by a half dozen Tampa rimshots. It appears NOBODY listens to the station the other 22 hours of the day.

DX - You are correct. My apologies

Jazz - Nothing you detail below refutes what I have said, with reference to his current market/station. He is on an AM station, and one of the lowest ranked stations in the city at that. I want to see the guy make it, but 5th place, 12+ ain't exactly going to bring the big markets and big advertisers calling. Add a rap sheet with a crime against women and pets and it's a whole different sell than a Beck drug addiction. Vick? He was a 1st round draft pick and led the Falcon's to the playoffs twice before he messed up so lets not inflate his position.

I stick strong to my original post. Radio speaking, he's got AM or internet, that's it. Guarantee. I thought I recall hearing he was once in food sales so my point was that if he's got some options to start up fresh in another city, the judge should give him that chance.

While a .3 overall isn't gangbusters, it isn't unrated. Nor is being tied for fifth place in Orlando's market.
