ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Get over it :D

96 Rock was mercifully put out of its misery........3 years too late (other than TRG)

Thanks for your opinion. You have yours and I have mine. I just think mine is by far the majority.

If "the majority" wanted to keep 96 Rock around, it never would have gone away. Not opinion, just simple math.

You think Arbitron is "simple math?" Odd. And the listeners didn't kill 96rock, "research" did. I occasionally stream KDKB in Phoenix...good imaging, a nice mix of tunes (hey, they don't ignore the late 80s), and attitude that's befitting. Basically, what 96rock could have been, instead of trying to copy Tampa all the time, then adding baseball, then killing itself for the flavor of the month.

And KDKB is programmed by Buzz Casey, former 96rock PD. Buzz wanted to program 96 they way he's programming KDKB but Marc Chase wouldn't let him.
Blame Chase and not research. Chase was the reason 96 went ALL Classic after Z93 flipped. He thought for sure that Z listeners would flock to 96 but Z did a better job at Classic Rock than 96 did. Chase refused to give in and go back to adding currents PLUS classics... PLUS.. Chase HATED the Regular Guys. He didn't understand why people like their show. He was the "Hillbilly" from Alabama. Chase never gave 96rock a chance to survive.

I just got Sirius this weekend. I used to say I would never leave broadcast/terrestrial radio. And I didn't. Broadcast/terrestrial radio left me.

That is a good point. I don't see myself getting interested in any station. I can't be loyal to a station or format or personality because they will likely be gone tomorrow without so much as a goodbye.

Damn that sounds like a scorned lover. Pitiful.

I do like the control that I have with my ipod. I can count on it being there everyday and it never plays a song I don't like. I just need to figure out how to find new music that I may like.

Correction: 96 Rock went all classic rock maybe 45 days BEFORE Z flipped to Dave.

Dude... I worked there. We had meetings on taking advantage of the Z flip. Our rotation became "Classic" WITHOUT currents. Honestly, they thought they would keep their P-1's and add Z's... never happened.

Here's what you do: go to http://www.pandora.com and create as many different personalized online radio stations as you like. You might have one based on The Fray and another that plays music similar to the Killers and another that plays the Arctic Monkeys and yet another that plays downtempo ambient. You'll discover a TON of new music and never-before-known artists that NEVER get airplay and open up a whole new world of music. My wife and I tune in daily and when we hear something we like we click on it and download it from iTunes. It's the future of music.

Um, hey dude, yeah...there were meetings and all, but the currents came off and the term Classic Rock was used before Z flipped.

I'm sure your memory is all hazy and everything.

research ruins much of Cc's stuff since theyll want to make it as "palatable" to as many people as possible...unfortunately "palatable" and "bland" are often one and the same...no matter how hard you try tp contrive a cool image...it's not something that can be contrived...one either is or isnt

kdkb sounds lik the way rock 103.7 used to be til the decided to try a more Dave Fm type format...I lament 103.7's loss...i still have solace in 100.7 out of da ATH while I'm n the way to/in Oglethorpe county...its eclectic but rarely sucky

96rock started leaning pretty heavily towards all Classic Rock within the first 7 months of 2004, but it wasn't till sometime in August of that year when they went all the way and changed from "Atlanta's Rock Station" to "Atlanta's Classic Rock Station". Z93 flipped to Dave FM in late July. 96rock going all Classic Rock was completely a reaction to the demise of Z.
