Shared Resources Good Idea or Bad?

With many stations (both radio and TV) sharing resources from their owners' networks how does this forum think about the overall listener/viewer satisfaction with the content? Do shared resources work? What suggestions do you have to better the situation? Thanks.

Of course it's good. Is there any other better example of shared resources than the AP? While their writing style stinks, I doubt there's a news director at a radio/TV station alive today who would want to be without it. It's been working since 1848.

From their website:

AP operates as a not-for-profit cooperative with 3,700 employees working
in more than 240 worldwide bureaus.

AP supplies a steady stream of news around the clock to its domestic
members, international subscribers and commercial customers. It has the
industry's most sophisticated digital photo network, a 24-hour
continuously updated online news service, a state-of-the-art television
news service and one of the largest radio networks in the United States.

Ok so the national services are a good thing according to you. How about regional use of resources like weather sources (KWWL) for the Cedar Rapids market on WMT? Or Radio Iowa stories used for the all markets? Are these a plus or just time fillers. Maybe the "man on the street" will know.

Same applies. The National Weather Service itself is a shared resource of observers and meteorologists as well as cooperative offices in other areas.

Radio Iowa is nothing more than a clearing house for stories gathered by reporters in the state...together with their own staff of reporters and such. Time fillers maybe for some, but not for most I'm guessing...

They are a good thing according to me? As subject starter, what's your opinion? I take from the comment that maybe they're not...please explain.

I am just curious as an interested outsider (with inside conections) and haven't formed an opinion on the subject yet. I appreciate all the opinions here. Thanks.

I really didn't like how the mix of Cedar Rapids and Des Moines news mix happens with Fox and KGAN. I could care less about construction on the roads in Des Moines.
