SHAWN CASH LEAVING KZZO

KZZO's Shawn Cash, most recently returned to mornings and teamed with ex-KWOD middayer Hill Jordan, is reported to have resigned. It is reported as well that Cash is leaving radio to pursue other interests.

Cash will reportedly remain with the station through the end of the current ratings book.

I guess he has had enough of the Steve Cottinham era. nobody likes working for him, including me

So you're saying this really isn't the reason?

you tell us, your a weekender at the Zone

Sounded like Shawn is really looking for an opportunity outside of radio. With the current state of radio layoffs and who knows what is next I think he is just getting one step ahead.
He will be missed...

He will be missed in the halls for sure...say what you want about Shawn's show....but he was so well liked by the target audience.

Shame the ratings never really bore that out.

You mean the morning show ratings?
I don't remember when Sahwn did mornings by himself?

i wonder what they are gonna do, hill jordan cant carry mornings by herself... she couldnt even carry middays when she was at KWOD.

In the 2/12/08 edition of "that major metropolitan newspaper" (apologies to Tom Sullivan),
21Q's Sam McManis on page E5 says Shawn Cash "will stay in the music biz. Or, rather,
the Muzak biz. He's helping to start a company that provides music to retail businesses.

"Who's replaced Cash?

"No one, at least not yet, says Steve Cottingim, top suit for Sacramento's CBS' radio
stations."

Stay tuned...

I would assume the Zone would start all over again from scratch. Bring in a completely different morning show. I'm sure there is more to Shawn Cash's departure from mornings than just "a new venture". Creating a good morning team is not easy.

Hey "Rey" as a part timer on the weekend do you really think it is smart to talk bad about your own station? I heard the vibe up there over the past few months has been great, are we hearing wrong? What do you "know" about the departure of Mr. Cash?

I don't know what you've interpreted as "talking bad" about the station, interesting. As far as Shawn goes, I don't have any more info than what is posted here.

they need a big strong morning show to take out Rob, Arnie and Dawn - They SUCK! They should syndicate The Kidd Chris Show from CBS's WYSP Philly. Blood would be shed. Sacramento radio needs a radio WAR. The Philly audience would get this city fired up. They're BRUTAL.

Would love to see Kidd Chris back in the market Brad...But, KZZO's music and slightly-more female-skewing audience would not be a good fit for Chris.
