Shawn Tempesta - last night on FUN 107

Shawn Tempesta (Saturdays - 8pm to 2am) will be leaving FUN 107 as of tonight to go to Mix 94.1 in Las Vegas.

Its sad to see such a great jock leave us.

Memories of Shawn's show should go here....

Congrats Shawn. I've never heard you but you prove a point I've made in the past that if weekenders want to make a commitment to full time radio they have to be ready to move. It's a hard decision to make for some but the best weekenders in the world simply aren't going to be hired if the jobs aren't there when they limit their options by playing the waiting game in a given area.

Hahaha thanks Itchy...

I figured I'm still young, so I don't have "deep roots"...and Mix is the #1 Hot AC in the country...so what the hell. Worth a shot ;) I know that if I stick around waiting for a shot in the Northeast (where it seems EVERYONE wants to be onair)...i might be missing the "perfect opportunity".

Thank you again... :)

Congratualtions to Shawn!

A great loss to radio in this area, I have driven home after late nights in Boston or Hartford, and searched out his show.. Fun comes in nicely at the Voluntown CT/Exeter RI town lines, and also gets to the southern fringes of Boston.

I've called Shawn to compliment his work, (although I know he'd prefer talking to the hot chickies calling in!! :) ) and mentioned it to JR. Shawn is a decent chap, and deserves to go far!

There really has been nothing thrilling about Providence, Boston or Hartford radio worth listening to on a Saturday late night. Since we no longer have Star 93.7, and Vinny Peruzzi passed away, Shawn really has stepped up the plate, producing a big city sound from Fairhaven!!

So best of luck Shawn, I have to go to Vegas in March, so I'll be checking you out!

Merry Christmas

Jazzy Geoff

I have Erica Kay/Shawn Tempesta LAST CROSS TALK from last night if anyone's interested...hahaha

Geoff my friend!!!

Let me tell everyone something. After like 2 or 3 months there, I got the call from Geoff complimenting me. I saved that call on VoxPro and brought it home...one of the best calls I've ever received...

One of the major reasons I was allowed to make the show "mine" was that Fun 107 GETS IT. Citadel GETS IT.

I'm not saying my show was AMAZING. I'm not saying my show was GREAT. But the station is doing the right thing when it comes to hiring weekenders. Some stations only have one...Fun 107 in market 174 has (thinks to myself) 7, not including me.

The station GETS IT. They know that the weekend shift in a small market station is the first step in a jock's career, and instead of cutting the budget and making it one weekender, and voicetracking or syndicating the rest of Saturday and Sunday...they give us a shot.

There are formatics you have to follow, but they don't strangle you. The other station I was at (don't get me wrong, I loved the crew there) was LITERALLY "Read The Liner Card. Just Read It. Dont Get Cute".

I'm going from Citadel to CBS Radio...and from what I've seen, they have a somewhat loose atmosphere there as well. The PD is TWENTY FIVE YEARS OLD. So it should be interesting :)

I don't know you, but I just wanted to say congratulations! It's nice to see other Fun 107 alum move on to bigger and better things. It's a great starter station for people interested in radio. It's also really refreshing to hear that weekends are still fully staffed which ultimately provides these opportunities...

Have fun in Vegas!

I ended up interviewing at another station in Northeast PA...someone from Fun 107 out there...KIIS-FM...Kiss 108...etc etc...Fun 107 has played a HUGE part in making my tape sound big. Without them, I would be going nowhere.

Well he made the move from part time at WLNH and FUN 107 to full time in Vegas so that's a good local topic even though most have never heard of him. Howard's a national thing and being discussed on various boards. At least Shawn looks like a go-getter instead of sitting on his duff waiting to be discovered around here where if a good potential weekender applied most PDs wouldn't bat an eyelash as long as they have a full stable of dolts who are going nowhere to work for cheap. Weekenders who aren't committed to moving in full time ought to just leave radio and make room for people serious about things. Most just pull a weekend shift for four hours of glory to feed the egos they don't deserve then go back to their day jobs. Others are ex full timers who just won't give it up because without the four hours of glory they lose something of their identity. Then they become Joe Blow instead of Joe Blow from W--- and that's just unacceptable to them. Just my 2 cents. I don't even know Shawn T. At least it looks like some people who know him are supportive in an area where most radio people wouldn't pee in your mouth if you were dying of thirst. Oh I could tell stories but I won't.

Good Points there...your right, i'm sure no one does it cause its something they love to do, and enjoy it, but would rather do it as a hobby rather than live with a mediocre paying job, and/or having to uproot your family across country. Good Thinking

Hahahaha Frau you had me until Mouth Urination. ;)
