SHEEN SUES WARNER BROS./LORRE ON HIS AND CREW BEHALF (CLAIMS ILLNESS)

from zap2it.com http://blog.zap2it.com/pop2it/2011/...alf-men-crew-sue-warner-bros-chuck-lorre.html

TMZ reports that Sheen has filed a lawsuit against Warner Bros. and Lorre, demanding that he be paid for the eight "Two and a Half Men" episodes that fell by the wayside. Not only that, the actor is suing for $100,000,000 plus punitive damages on behalf of the entire crew.

Lawyer Marty Singer writes, "Chuck Lorre, one of the richest men in television who is worth hundreds of millions of dollars, believes himself to be so wealthy and powerful that he can unilaterally decide to take money away from the dedicated cast and crew of the popular television series, 'Two and a Half Men,' in order to serve his own ego and self-interest, and make the star of the Series the scapegoat for Lorre's own conduct."

He continues to allege that Warner Bros. and Lorre were involved in a conspiracy against Sheen, and that they fired him during sickness, which is a violating of both State and federal law.

Wow, who would have thought the lawyer would be as crazy as the client! That doesn't even read like legal paperwork should.

Second, if you are going to claim illness, then it's probably not a good idea to show up on any show that will give you the time and tell them you are fine.

Third, it's a battle of two egos here, not one. Charlie's large ego against Chuck Lorre's pride.

Which will result in an out of court settlement with the lawyers getting rich and Sheen getting money out of it.

I know of someone in Thailand, he said, he never even heard of the show, but now they are showing it in Thailand and he and his friends are watching it.

I guess any publicity is good eh? :)

You mean in the same way that Farid Suleman was so wealthy and powerful that he was able to decide to lay off hundreds of his employees because Farid couldn't afford to pay the loans he had taken out to buy ABC Radio?

Yeah, I think that's called business.

As opposed to Chuck's winning ways?

A bit off topic but I wonder how those American English double entendre's play out in Thai? Or maybe they broadcast in English?

That's not "legal paperwork," it's a press release from what sounds like a Hollywood entertainment lawyer. I would assume that the legal documents Marty Singer files with the court will follow the proper legal format.

This isn't surprising, it's SOP. I understand why Lorre got pissed off and fired Sheen - but at this point, both sides are just trying to one-up each other.

My predictions of what will happen: Lorre may find some grounds to counter-sue, then months down the road, both sides will reach some settlement with non-disclosure agreements on both sides. But by then, the public will be bored with the controversy, and nobody will really care. And considering how wealthy both Lorre and Sheen seem to be, it won't really be relevant which side loses money in the deal, because it will be a drop in the proverbial bucket for either of them.
