Congratulations to these two guys for having the balls to report on how f*cked up things are down in New Orleans and speaking the truth about how the government has let everyone down.

And neither one of them allowed Sean Hannity spin his right wing crap! Both men Shep and Geraldo were very emotional and were holding back tears.

Now I know you guys are gonna rip me for posting this. And I know Shephard Smith wears too much eyeliner and Geraldo should wear looser t-shirts, BUT I APPLAUD THEM!

It's total meltdown at Fox News Channel. The reporters in the field aren't towing the Fox line of the day anymore and are ticked off. The people in the comfy chairs are having to shout down their own reporters now. It's amazing to watch the talking points fall apart on your own network:

The news troops in the field experiencing the conditions first had did stage a bit of an on-air revolt. O'Reilly tried to reign in Geraldo and Rivera just kept on keeping on. Same with attempts to shut off Shepherd Smith. Be interesting to be a fly on the wall at Fox headquarters as Bill, Sean and in-house producers plead their case regarding the "hired help" in NO getting so "out of line." Wonder, further, what the reaction was from inside the Beltway.

I would have to agree. They both sound pretty pissed off about what is going on and they are being honest about how they feel. It was interesting to watch last night.<P ID="signature">______________

The reaction will be this

"We saw hell, and our government sat on their hands doing nothing for two whole days, now when they see what we showed, they finally get it and do something..but still there is more that needs to be done."

I'm proud of shep and geraldo for their honesty...

The Ailes Memo Machine has ramped up to FNC Martial Law this morning. A major tone shift occured first thing this morning. Apparently the inside the beltway crowd was not at all pleased with the negative coverage of the Administration last night because today's coverage is peppered with:

"Some people say liberals are using tragedy to score political points."
"Is the media making things worse with their negative coverage?"

-and my favorite-

"Is this just an excuse by black liberal groups to hitch a ride on the hurricane to get their agenda on the front page?"

Michael Moore has been replaced by Kanye West. All of these remarks are coming not from reporters on the ground but the opinionalists in the studio.

After the dramatic Smith/Geraldo report last night, Hannity switched to one of the Fox reporter blondes dangling shiny keys saying things are getting better... look over here....

It suddenly struck me that I was watching Babylon 5's ISN News. :)

Thanks for the video.

My wife fell asleep early and I wanted to show her that video. Thanks.

I didn't see Shep's or Geraldo's reporting as anti-administration. They reported what they saw and as they experienced it. President Bush wasn't the problem. He did declare and emergency before Katrina hit. The breakdwon was between city and state. I think the governor was caught up in indecision. The governor by law, has to request the National Guard to be deployed. The chain of command broke at her office. Gov. Blanco should have ordered them in, the same time President Bush declared the emergency BEFORE it happened.

Addtionally, the people were told to get out. Some didn't; others couldn't and got trapped. Smith and Rivera did a great job.

Funny thing about Fox News

Of course it wasn't, they were just reporting the truth. But guys like Hanity and Ailes didn't see it that way. They wanted Shep and Geraldo to stay on the sunny side so Bush wouldn't look bad.

Funny thing about Fox News: It's actually a great News channel, but the political guys on there (Hanity, Gibson) are tow the line jerks. It's cool, they have their platform, and we are smart enough to see through them and laugh.

Correct, reporting by Smith and Rivera wasn't at all anti-Bush but O'Reilly kept trying to put words in their mouths so he obviously could step in with his straw man issue and do his defense thing on behalf of the administration. O'Reilly and some others of his ilk always will have pockets of supporters but it looks as if O'Reilly and company may have done themselves some harm this time. Maybe Bill should go to work as the official White House spokesman. He is doing the job unofficially now from the Fox studios.

Overall I like Shep and Geraldo for doing what they did initially as national news reporters. But to be honest I'm sick to death of all these celebrities now going down there with their cameras in tow. I.e. Oprah Winfrey, Richard Simmons, Matthew McConaughey, Harry Connick, Jr., John Travolta, etc. etc. etc. and crying like a baby in their in tow cameras like they all have lost their own mother and father in the flood. It's one thing to be emotional over the destruction of their home town but they make it all about them. Cry, cry, cry. Just donate a million or two and say your sad. But the complete and total breakdowns on TV are not necessary and are over-the-top. If you don't know what I'm talking about, watch Oprah.
