Sheriff is knocking on WDJO's door

If you follow any of this on the clerk's website Overbeck wants his money and it looks like Mr. Kauffmann is pulling out all the stops to hold him off. Did Overbeck win somewhere north of $30k? If you ever listen to the station...they do not seem to have many advertisers. Word on the street is they owe money to more than just Overbeck.

Hey Green Bean--- why so angry?

A little guy trying to make some money on a little stick- These days- that is COOL!

I'm sure there are two sides to the O thing- The courts will decide if "O" is a "deadbeat" or the mighty Wedajoe are the slugs-- I am happy to say I have no idea who is right, but I know my checks (a whopping 25 bucks a shift) clear every week and we have an independent operator trying to make good radio in a very tough radio climate--- take your schadenfreude and relax with a Spaten Oktoberfest-- life is short--radio life is even shorter... try to have some fun and cut down on the bitter hops--- really--- it's all good

You tell 'em partymarty. WDJO is a great station with some little guys just trying to make a go of it. That's what America was built on. Someone having a dream and doing what they could to make it happen. These guys are just trying to make it happen during difficult times for every business. String bean lighten up and stop with the speculation. It's not constructive.

I congratulate DJO for excellent programming. You don't have to be a Clear Channel station to have a good and entertaining radio station.

And the entire staff are all seasoned professionals. Keep up the good work Marty!

Marty with the Party is the best.. I wish the ownership of WDJO the best. We should all support a single station operator like WDJO.

The station though has become a bit stale and could use some tweeks in programming and review the some new revenue streams. In addition, there are so many opportunties to increase billing via NTR events.

IThis is not be critical of the owners but sometimes you need a fresh input. This station has the chance to increase their revenue streams but I think they are too close to the situation.

Let's not be one to talk about possible issues with Mr. Overbeck and anyone else. Let's support the smaller operators who in there doing their best.

Great advice, Marty - I only wish you'd heed it yourself with certain individuals you've had issues with in the past! You sound terrific - as always...

Take Care...

THANK GOODNESS for someone capable of "FAIR critique"! I couldn't agree MORE, and see no need to patently-repeat the obvious. GOOD CALL, Bizman!

^^^^^!

While all the support for the "little guy" is sweet, Partymarty's response to Delmonte's factual statements was a little defensive. I didn't hear the hate that Marty seems to hear in Del's post.

Maybe it's that Marty is all too aware of the reality of the Kauffmann family's history over the years, and jumped to conclude that DelMonte was one of that very large group who had been lied to or about, swindled, cheated or otherwise maligned by Rog and company. Don't believe it? Go find two or three people who worked for Rodger. Not those who work there now and know it is their last chance to do what they love on the radio, but people who have worked with or for him, either in his capacity at WCPO, the ad agency he thought he could run or this station. It'll make your eyes bleed.

It is a shame that an otherwise great little oldies station with a great team of talent has come to this fate, but the truth is, it is the way it is because that's the way Kauffmann rolls. Rodger has created all the bad that has come to that station. If the station fails, the burden falls to no one but him and his "team" (who ever might be left.) If the oldies and independent radio supporters want to get mad at someone for the demise of WDJO, get mad at Rodger. Believe me, nobody here hates on the independent little guy, they have just been screwed by Rodger.

Now I'll sit and wait for Rodger and his minions to flame me here with any of their 15 different handles.

To moneymaker I will tell you that I have never worked for or with Rodger Kauffmann. I don't even know him. The think I disagree with the comments we make here should not be a personal nature.

I always felt you could make comments about the station and whether an air talent was good or not. I hope others don't follow your path of making comments like this. If you have a problem with someone then I suggest you call them directly and express your views. This is not the place for personal attacks.

I really want WDJO, Real Talk 1160, WMOH and other stations that are not owned by the big boys to be successful. I mentioned before that I feel there are several things WDJO could do to increase revenue streams and audience. If the owners are interested in my input I would be happy to work with the. I don't have alL tHe answers but I have had a solid track record making money in radio.

It's a shame what is happening with the Piqua radio station that they are having a hard time making a go with it.

Bizman thank you for your comments. I trust there will be others who believe the comments made about Rodger Kauffmann and the ownership group are totally out of line.

I have worked with or for people that I have a low opinion of but would never use this avenue to air them.

I believe 99 per cent of us have always kept things professional and that's the way it should be.

If those type of comments were made on the any radio station in this country - action would be taken.

Jeez Jeff...how much more flaming can you be on this dude?

We know Delmonte Dusty 57 has issues with WDJO, but what's your issue??

Shouldn't you be tending the store? Why are all of your posts flaming to Roger or WDJO?

Some of us think more of him, than we do of you! Why don't you take your personal issues up outside of a Radio forum? I'm sure if there was a public poll of Jeff Ziesman supporters, you may be disappointed of the results!

"If those type of comments were made on the any radio station in this country - action would be taken." All the more reason why people should never use their real name on message boards. It's not worth the BS for stating your opinion on-line just because you've truly identified yourself etc. As far a DJO, I have no comments other than that of a listener.

Just got back from northern MI and wanted to see what was new. WOW.
Well, y'all know who i am, i don't hide. Now, i don't know the "handles" that my troops use and it's Labor Day.
So... Word to my staff, stay out of this one. Whatever is going on, here is hoping that they do well.

I am sorry but I had a typo on an earlier comment. I have never worked for or with the Kauffmann ownership. I think it is wrong to attack someone on a personal level on this blog. I applaud WDJO on what they are doing in the Cincy market.

I feel the comments shoud be limited to the talent of an air staff, the station or the radio company on how the station sounds.

OKC---If everyone used their real names rather than be "cyber-wimps" we could have good honest meaningful discussions rather than
"flame-fests".

Kudos to JRY and the others who are upstanding enough to tell us who they are!

Man up people--- if you have trash to talk, do it with integrity.

say who you are and your words have real meaning

I'm Jack and I'm a radio personality in Cincinnati. <Okay, its volunteer at ClassX, but I have 20 years commercial experience too..I swear!> So is the handle DJJack honest? Or is it a sign of a lack of creativity on my part? I take the fifth on that one.

There..now anyone who cares knows who I am. Even the vast majority of folks here who DON'T care know who I am.

I've been in the building, but have never worked with any of the current DJO crew. Sure is a damned fine radio station, though.

JRY I am with you on wishing the little guy the best,'DJO has done a great job doing what they do in bring the oldies to it's listeners, even if they don't have the big stick to reach Batavia, they do cover Cincinnati which is where they are suppose to cover. 1480 is one of the best AM sounding stations in the market.
Why Moneymaker Jeff Z. has to always be picking on the station and Roger K. it must be personal with him.
This is not the place to beat up on good radio stations or good people.
Oh, yes I am a WDJO out of the closet Listener and FAN , so please don't berate my favorit station Jeff, you should wish yours sounded as good.
Jeff or should I say Moneymaker, you are just little guy in broadcasting, like JRY and Roger K. they are gentlemen try being one yourself, and I wish you the best.

I live in Milwaukee (although a former Cincinnati resident) and listen to WDJO on my iPhone app. I don't know about all the business and politics going on there with the station -- I just want to say that the music selection is among the best you can hear ANYWHERE these days if you like real Oldies music, and the personalities are quite good to boot. I certainly hope the station remains in business. It's top-notch!
