Sherman Baldwin on WROW

How is it possible that Sherman Baldwin is on WUPE mornings in Mass and still able to program a radio station in Albany (WROW). The big boss sould be ashamed. It takes dedication on a full time basis to keep up with Vandenburg. Silly Rabbit....wake up!
An ABC Rule of thumb...It's not cool to have a part time job. You need to focus on this one. Ha Ha! What a joke.

Suffice to say it took big bucks and a lot of pleading by Jackie Donovan. Sherman agreed on the condition Jackie would step down as PD. But Jackie still calls many of the shots from "behind the scenes." Firing Mark Williams freed up the cash needed to pay Donovan, Baldwin and VanZandt (the trio was originally to have been billed as "The WROW Morning Showgram" but Baldwin demanded afternoon drive, which under PLAN A would have been syndicated out - an attempt to bring the "Two Bitchin' Babes" at 590 was nixed by the sales department who told Morrell they wouldn't be able to get sponsors for it).

Dude, Jackie was never PD, even you pointed that out a few miserable threads ago. Don't know what your problem is with her but you really need to move on. Is all of this negative bashing just your way of saying that YOU wanted the job?

Yeah, Jackie, er, I mean "rocketpower" you WERE PD, it said so on the radio station website for weeks. Stick with the topic PLEASE.

When JR was in Albany he did a show for Cleveland(?) too - of course it was from the GY studio - I have heard of other jocks (myself included) trotting from one area city to another in a single day - it's a heckuva way to make a buck!

Not Jackie, but not too far off. Tom Rigatti was PD until new PD arrived, website was an error. Since you aren't on the inside I can understand your confusion.

Back to the point. Does anyone know if the 2 station gig is long term? Maybe he is just doing both until he's replaced.

Wow!!! A blast from the past. Not sure where JR came into the pic. If you look a couple post down. Someone asked about JR. Guess what? No one cares! Let it go...it will be ok. What I really wanted to know is how is this man going to get results! A morning show in Mass and a afternoon show in Albany. When will a day become 34 hours so he can get down to business and pull some ratings. Vandenburg is making this look easy.

Scott Allan Miller refused to move from Boston to here, Mark Williams refused to move from San Francisco to here and now WROW's "new program director" and afternoon host continues the trend. Any thoughts on why these three vastly different people could not be enticed to relocate here? Is there something about WROW or something about the area?

I'll start with Scott Allen Miller. He seemed like a decent guy in person. I think he was smart for not moving his family here. He most likley realized a few weeks into the job that ABC gives the title of Program Director and with it no power to make any improvement. I'm not sure what he could have done with the ability to acually make decisions the way that Paul Vandenburg was allowed to. Now a bit about Mark Williams. To be honest I think Mark was in the wrong place at the wrong time. I also think many would wonder who would leave San Fran to live in Albany. ABC needed to free up payroll in order to pay for a new morning show and PD. As far as Sherman Baldwin. He is smack in the middle of a Volcano about to blow. The big boss man is selling off property's, staff is dropping like flies, and I hear it is a crazy house on the daily basis. Would you leave a stable position and move to Albany to work in the middle of what is going on at ABC? I think he is taking the experience as long as it last. RUN FOREST! RUN!!!

C'mon guys. If you want the facts - all you have to do is ask. As for doing both gigs - watch me. Also, I am a huge Vandenburg fan! Like I said - all you have to do is ask. As for ABC - I love a challenge!!!!!!!!!!

RE: "Tom Rigatti was PD until new PD arrived, website was an error." That says it all! The whole place is an "error"!

EXCEPT for Sherman! Another wonderful but woefully "in the wrong place at the wrong time" talent.

ABC is collapsing from within.

TO JOHNNY "45" - give us more "insider info" bro!

Good Morning:

Hey MT2 - do you have an axe to grind with ABC?

Also, anybody know of anyone who is looking for a part-time news gig?
No, MT2 - heads are not rolling. I am just looking to expand our news presence in the capital region. Anybody who is interested please email me at [email protected]. Thanks

I wanted to clear something up. My point was never against Sherman Baldwin. ABC itself is to blame for why WROW has failed after Vandenburg. Move over and let the new Program Director do his job. As a listener I would love to see WROW take the News Channel 13 take on local news. How great would it be to have a local news talk radio station be "Live, Local, and Late breaking. Local, local, local is where it needs to be. If it's happening WROW is on the scene. Just my take on what is they need to do. Good luck Sherman.

I like you, Sherman.

Suggestions
1) Stop reading news off WGY and Capital News Nine websites
2) Teach your employees out in the field to respect what I call "the human rainbow" - snide remarks can sting and they'll bite your station in the you-know-where down the road. Others will remember YOU by the actions of that one field representative.

Observations
1) I'd rather listen to Angela Austin than Jackie Donovan
2) Your Swap Shop is a joke and a throwback to "old time" WQBK style radio. Leave that up to Vandenburgh. He knows the correct way to air that kind of program.

In all fairness let's give Sherman a few weeks to get his feet wet. As far as the Jackie Donovan thing...it sounds like MT2 you have a personal issue with her. Just an observation. If WROW gets back to the basics they can win. Get out there and shake hands. Start becoming the peoples News Talk radio station. That's what this market lacks. It's all about he said she said. This market has too much of the old school and not enough of the new. It comes down to pure lazy. Remember folks without listeners we have no radio. The way I see it you have to be seen to be heard. WROW can take back the listener. They just have to have a fire in the gut.

I beg to disagree. It's a fine show, a ratings grabber, and the guy who hosts it is really great ----- the best show on weekend morning radio!

Sherman is great! Donovan is full of herself. Sounds more like MT2 has a personal RELATIONSHIP with her.

Wow. Remember when you registered here on Radio-Online? It asked you to click the box that say "i am over the age of 13".

However. It seems quite clear that there are many who forgot that they ARE over the age of 13. ??? Hell, Most over the age of 50! Grow up!

Sherman, do your thing. Whatever works.

Sherman: Why have you stopped posting to the board? A reporter told me Donovan complained about it, then turned around and posted herself! If true, THAT's hypocrisy!
Sherman can you please clear this up?
