Hello everyone,
I want to make a statement regarding Shine 96.7 in the Greenville market. I personally love the music on the station, because they play a lot of stuff that's not found on WLFJ 89.3 or 106.9 WMIT. However, I do not like the voice over aspect of the station. It is like the station runs on auto-pilot. You can find all of the DJ's voices you hear live on other CC stations. I also do not like the way that the music just cuts out when they go to USC Gamecock games. I love the Gamecocks myself, but do not like when games come on with no warning whatsoever. Could this be why the station is suffering so bad in the ratings department?
I was discussing with someone the other day about radio. I have always loved radio ever since I was little. I remember getting to go on the air (for a few minutes doing weather and sports one day when I was visiting) at WLFJ when I was 12, and that has always stuck with me. Radio today is much different than it was back then. Radio back years ago used to be more personalized, and more localized. I know radio stations have to make money, and I also know that technology has changed, but do some of these stations have to go to total voice over tracking? It just frustrates me that radio has lost the luster that it once had. I used to love listening to the radio just to hear what the DJs had to say. Now, on some stations, you hear them saying the same thing multiple times in one day or during their shift on the air (most of it being voice over tracking).
Does anybody feel the same way I do, or am I just a lone voice out here?
