Shiver Me Timbers 87.9

Just NW of Boston im hearing 87.9 which is transmitting a barix/dmd2 custom radio stream which is a service for hotels / retail stores etc. It IDs as such and has generic placeholders for where the business would insert custom ads/announcements. I caught it first in Burlington and got it all the way to my destination in Somerville. Signal seemed to get stronger heading east.

Strange source of programming content for your typical pirate.

I’ve been logging something on 87.9, too, lately (at first confusing it with our friend on 97.7), up here in the Danvers-Beverly-Peabody area.
Then, last Saturday, over at Market Basket on 114 in Middleton, a weird mix was on—including one of Madonna’s oldies—that I also thought was coming from a local bluetooth/FM converter type microtransmitter.
Then I caught an ID, “Custom Radio” (or something like that), that also seemed to me to sound like a nursing home/hotel/store type audio service.
On a related note, I’ve also noted a weak Spanish/Creole/(Italian?) pirate on 107.1 at times—isn’t there one in the Mattapan-Dorchester area? It sounds more like an old fashioned, one lung, night/weekend bedroom operation, rather than one of the big time, “commercial”, flamethrowing pirates!

That 107.1 pirate has been on for several years. Not much of a signal and poor audio, but it obliterates the very weak adjacent signal of 107.3 WAAF (soon to be "K-Love") in those Boston urban neighborhoods.

For awhile there was Companion Radio for rest homes--Blueberry Hill on Brimball Ave in Beverly had it, as did Brightview on Endicott St in Danvers...not sure if that's still around.
Different channels and programs...I could pick it up for a block or two. One was a bit on 60s folk music. And for a time as I've mentioned before, someone near the intersection of
Federal St and Rantoul St in Beverly had a mini FM transmitter doing one of the Howard Stern Sirius channels.

Once on I-91 just N of Springfield I was briefly getting the Opie and Anthony show at one spot (this was long ago) but it faded; no doubt from someone's car.)

Let's take that pirate down once and for all!
