SHOCKER, John Davison OUT at WHWK!

I'd say it was budget cuts. Like I said in my other post, every year around the holidays. At least when I Heart cleaned house last year, it was in the spring ( not saying it was a good thing that happened ) but you catch my drift. It really, really sucks to see what the broadcasting industry has come down to in the past 20 years or so. If every station were still locally owned, would it be like this? Who knows. But, the ever changing times and latest and greatest technology has taken away from radio and even television in some cases. I'm sure many people ( myself included ) would love to see radio back to what it once was. The promotions, cash flow, relationship with the audience, spirit, and most important, live local talent instead of an automated jukebox with stop sets.

I agree with you! I'm a former radio person myself. Back then that's how it was. FUN! I wish John and the other 2 well. I believe one was with the Whale and one was Louie Gs sidekick.

There never was a time when every station was locally owned. Group ownership goes back to the 1920s. However, there was a time when there were a lot fewer radio stations. Today, there are twice as many stations in each town as the market can support. That means half of the radio stations are struggling to meet their expenses. So if every station was locally owned, there would be no way for them to share expenses. So I think it would be worse.

The 2 others are Kyle Mills who was doing promotions and on air work. I worked with Kyle for a bit when he was at Equinox and I was doing voice tracking. Good guy. Always enjoyed shooting the breeze with him. The other is Jackie Nutt who was Louie's sidekick. If I'm not mistaken, she had just started over there in July/August time frame. Talk about a short lived stint considering Tanya was released around October 2015 and Louie was by himself for several months.
